New IS350 or 05' G35 Coupe 6mt

btw...is350 is 40k loaded...it doesn't start at 40k.
Also keep in mind, it will have 300+ horsepower...Lexus confirmed it at the NY auto show. The only thing is it will only come with a 6-spd smg gear box at release...but I'm sure Lexus will get smart at throw in a traditional 6-spd later on.

Flightz, the IS won't have a SMG gearbox, it's going to just be an Auto with manumatic mode and paddles. SMG (which is a BMW term), would describe a manual transmission controlled by a computer controlled clutch.
IS350 will not have manual transmssion at launch, but it is rumored that it may later on.
The IS line is scheduled to debut Oct 1, with manual transmission on the IS250 coming 60 days later.

The IS350 is mostly likely going to be loaded or almost loaded at 40K. From what I have been reading most of you guys are paying about that, give or take a grand, drive out for a fully loaded G35 coupe. So really not that much of a difference, +/- 2grand. And the reason I am comparing the IS with the G35 coupe is that my next car purchase is going to be one or the other. Again thanx for ur responses.

Actually, it really depends on what you're looking for. Subjective opinion aside regarding appearances, have your compared the specs?
I'm assuming you're comparing against a coupe since this is in the coupe section not the sedan section. But you should probably compare internal space as well as external dimensions. I don't konw what kind of car you're driving now, but if you're comparing a coupe versus a sedan, it's like apples and oranges.
If you don't need the extra room, like a manual transmission, want something that's more sporty, I would go with the G.
If you're looking for something that's sporty and practical I would go with the IS. Or if you want to spend a little more, the GS would be awesome! ;-) I saw a couple on the street and think it looks good. AWD and push button start. Can't beat that unless you're willing to jump even higher into the M series. That's keyless and push button start with a V8... damn... won't be able to be beat that until the M5 comes out! :-)
Well, good luck and I think this is something you really have to sit down and figure out for yourself. Afterall, we can say what we want, but you'll be the one driving it! :-)

thanx airsplat for ur response. I guess from what i am hearing and seeing, most guys on this forum are still paying a really high price for a 3yr old design. I was expecting a much lower price on the 05's but I guess I will have to wait for the 06's. Just my opinion, but I don't think the g35 warrants a 40K price tag(fully load mind you).

Perhaps it's time to start thinking used.

you can EASILY get a G35 coupe for 35?? How can you say you cant get a bare bones coupe for this price?
I got a 05 6MT for 37.6 OTD with premium and splash guards.. at 7.5% tax in southern california...
I am pretty sure the 40k Number everybody is talking about is before taxes as usually when people talk about car pricing, it IS before the before tax dollar amount
i HONESTLY doubt that we'll be seeing the IS350 for under 40K OTD.
