2005 6mt Clutch Shutter

I picked up my '05 6mt coupe on this weekend and for the most part it was as I expected, except for the clutch. The shifting is great, smoother then the previous years, and the stiffness and engagement point of the clutch is fine.

The problem is that when 1st gear engages it will shutter slightly most of the time. I've tried less RPM's and more RPM's, but cannot seem to eliminate the shutter. It is not a problem with other gears or with downshifting.

The question, for 2005 6mt only, is how do others deal with this and is this normal? Does it go away over time?

Shudder

Sorry, I meant "shudder", not "shutter". My girlfriend constantly corrects my grammer so I figured I'd better fix this before she catches it.

Thats a common problem, no fix. Some will tell you give it more gas, but if it still occurs, I wouldn't worry about it. Seems like a universal G problem regardless of year. And yes I have it too. There is nothing wrong with your car, just drive it and let warranty handle the rest when time comes.

it should get somewhat better as the clutch wears in, mine did.

only problem with more gas is more gas = more wear.. i think i would rather live with the shudder and have a longer clutch life.

I have a 2 week old 2005 and I have the exact same chatter noise you are describing. I think that it is perfectly normal for the '05 6mt's and may or may not improve with the clutch breaking in. I've gotten used to it and don't mind it on this sport coupe.
You could always go for the 5 AT ... hehehehehe

Duuuuuuuuude...I got my 6MT about 2 months ago, and it's the first manual car that I've ever had (I didn't know how to drive a stick as I drove it off the lot and somehow managed to get home...only stalled it once) and I thought that after 2 months of that retarded shuttering or shuddering or what the freak it is, I thought I was the worst driver on earth and that I couldnt match the RPMs correctly...WHEW!!! Now I have to learn to deal with it...

I have the same problem(can't seem to master a perfect launch). That chatter/shutter is ever present. Maybe 1/3 of the time does it not present itself.

Maybe you guys just need to go buy an auto, thats nice and smooth for you. It happens to me ever once in a while but ive noticed it about the same amount in all my cars....though i just don't cry about many things so that might be my problem.

I have no problems whatsoever with my 2005 6MT; it is actually a bit easier and smoother than my Subaru. Of course, I have only had it a short while, so we will see if a problem occurs.

Shudder

I have my '05 6mt since early Jan, 2005 and have nearly 3k mi and it seems to still be happening, only in 1st gear when starting out.

Adding more rpm's helps a bit, but I also worry about wearing out the clutch more.

It is actually more noticable now than when the car was brand new.

If you don't notice it but once in a while than your car does not have it. I have driven a few since I bought my car, some have it some don't. I love the 6MT though the noise is very annoying. Its enough that passengers in the car can hear it/feel it. And yes, my car has been to the dealer several times with no solution. As much as I love the MT I would give it up in a heartbeat to get rid of the noise annoyance.
