painting brake calipers?

maybe a noob question.. i dunno..

i was just wondering if it was possible to paint the brake calipers with some high temperature tolerant paint? itd be nice to paint the 05 calipers orange/gold to make it look...oh i dunno... brembo-esque? hehe cheap i know.. but u gotta give us 05 owners some slack due to the discontinuation of brembo equipped g's

Brake Calipers

If you are going to remove them yourself and disassemble them, I would OPT for powdercoating..... should stand up better to heat and road conditions..
plus a wide assortment of colors to choose from.....
just athought!

I know TCFOOL used the G-2 Brake Caliper PaintSystem Set, and his calipers look amazing (along with the rest of his ride). You can find some pics of his beautiful work here and here.

the g2 is definitely a comprehensive/high quality kit, but for less than 10 bucks you can go to the local auto parts store and get a can of caliper paint. the result will be nearly identical, spending the extra money on the g2 isnt worth it imo.

Whatever you choose painting them will give you a nice look and some more attention. I couldn't count the number of people that comment or ask about my Brembos.

Yeah but repainted brembros are going to look better than stock painted.

The G2 is worth it. It's much more durable than spray paint.

Actually if you gonna plan on using a spray paint.. make sure youget HIGH TEMP and pick up a can of CLEAR COAT HIGH TEMP as well.

I did it on my 03 G a year ago and on my other cars in past and never had any issues. Clear coat is whats gonna keep it from getting chipped too muich

i was thinking about painting the calipers on my 05 too. however, after seeing pics that another member posted, i'm not sure if it's worth the effort because it looks only okay. this is due to the fact that the stock calipers don't have an absolute smooth surface--it's sort of textured. so, even after it's painted, you can still see that textured surface. but, if you do paint the calipers, make sure to post some pics. if it looks good, i would be down with it too.

it only looks textured from close up ... but stand a few feet back and it looks smooth.

The G-2 paint system does not come with a clear coat.............should a clear coat be used with the G-2 system as well?

I picked up a kit called Brembs from a local Tuner store, I think the paint comes from Germany. It looks amazing. I have some buddies who used the spray on and you can always see the texture through the paint, but this stuff has a hardener in it and goes on a little thicker (with a paint brush) and it has been a year now and it still looks like the day that i painted them. I did three coats on all my brakes and had enough left over to do my escalade, the only downside is that the paint is about $50. It looks really smooth, like the finish on the brembos.
