Against popular belief on this forum, you may be surprised how many of these you are going to see on the road, and for the weak minded, you are going to be tormented at stoplights. Deal with it as you may.

If you buy a car, stand behind it or sell it. No need to wine now.
A lot of people don't really care if the Eclipse is faster. TONS of cars are now faster for a cheaper price (SRT4, Cobalt, 350Z, Mustang GT, 300C hemi, Subaru Leg GT, STi, Evo, etc...) but we don't really compare them to the G35 coupe as they are not true competitors. As with all sports coupes in the $35k range, the G35 does everything pretty well and that single reason is why its a phenomenol success for Infiniti. Sure you'll see tons of Eclipses and many G35 owners will think its a total POS. But thats fine because we paid the price tag to get a better car. I'm sure many Porsche or M3 owners think the same about our cars.

I hear you. I am not imposing that the eclipse is direct "competition" for the G, but there is so much hate on the board for the car which is normal being this is a G35 board, but here is the deal. There is no reason to talk this car down. It's putting a lot on the table for the money, and I truly believe that most of the people that have to use the nameplates inferiority to justify their G are a little insecure.

In terms of the car's features and purpose, I think the Eclipse is a competitor for the G coupe. Both have: 250+ HP V6, back seat, heavy weight, distinct styling. The biggest difference is of course the drive wheel.
Having said that, I don't think very many people would cross shop these two cars at all. I certainly wouldn't. If I was looking at an Eclipse, I'd cross shop Accord coupes, Solaras, and maybe Mustangs. If I was buying my G today, I'd cross shop the 3-Series coupe, RX-8, and maybe the V8 Mustang and GTO.
So, in my opinion, while the Eclipse and the G fit in roughly the same category, I don't think they would compete directly in the marketplace.

Looks like a friggin' Couger. I had a '96 Eclipse and it was the biggest POS I have ever owned.
