lol this is funny. I have the exact same problem. My driver side vent rattles but when I put my hand over it when it rattles it goes away... but comes back when I remove my hand... I also have a lakeshore... I asked the dealer about it when I got an oil change and we drove around in it, but the damn sound didn't happen when the service guy was in my car... weird...

Just adding fuel to the fire. My driver's side air vent rattles/squeaks as well. If I position it just right, it never rattles. But if I adjust it so that I can actually feel some air on my left side, it'll squeak/rattle.

I haven't taken a closer look to see what exactly is causing the noise. I'm sure a bit of vasaline in the right spot will fix it.

Same here. I got my coupe six days ago, and I noticed the rattle after the fourth day. First I thought it was the window, but when I hold on to the air vent, the rattling goes away. It comes back after I let go of it. I also noticed that the driver side air vent and the plastic side cover to the left of it is very loose compared to the passenger side air vent. I think the only way to get rid of the rattling would be to some how tighten it. May be even put something in between the vent and the plastic side cover.

I had the same vent buzz from the beginning of ownership. The dealer tried to fix it twice by adding felt insulation and tightening the screws, but no resolution to the buzzing. I read that someone had the vent replaced to solve this problem. My dealer replaced the vent and the buzzing was gone, but now I sometimes here it again. I even noticed this buzz when I first test drove the demo G coupe, I told the salesman it would really bug me if my new G had this problem. Sure enough, mine had the buzzing. Evidently, alot of other G coupes have the same complaint.

Good grief! . . . Okay, I have this infamous rattle, as well. It's probably not as bad as some, but it can be annoying at times.

I have the same problem that started right after I got the car, rattle from the left driver side vent consistently and sometimes from passenger side vent also.
When I drive on a very smooth pavement, it seems to stop, but the noise ruins my G driving experience.

Just to make sure that the rattle I have is the same type of noise that everyone else is experiencing here, mine sounds kind of like a noise made by a tiny loose washers shaking like crazy on a loose tiny bolts.
Is this the kind of noise that you guys are hearing also??

I'm gonna bring it up with the dealer on my next service, but if anyone finds the cause of the noise, pls share. Thx

I have that same rattle, too, and noticed it during my first week of ownership. Add to that the window rattle and the rear-view mirror rattle, and it really takes away from the joy of driving an otherwise great car.

overall... i'm glad this thread resurfaced lately... because i also have this rattle and it's driving me insane!! ^^poster above (sorry i have no idea what the hell your name is)... mine sounds like a ticking noise, i think it's basically what your experiencing (very difficult to describe). i used to rotate my vent either all the way up or all the way down. doing so would make the rattle go away for a week or two. but now i notice that it doesn't help anymore. can anyone confirm that it really is coming from that left-most rotating vent? i used to think so also... but now i'm not as sure anymore. i could have sworn that when i rolled my window completely down yesterday that it wasn't there anymore. making me think that it might have something to do with the door area this thing is driving me nuts... hopefully someone comes up with a solution soon.

I had the same rattle, took it to the dealer, they replaced the vent under warranty and it hasn't returned. However, I now have a rattle in the gauge cluster somewhere. It only does it occasionally, but I wonder if it has to do with the power telescoping wheel.

My Athens Blue G has the buzzing also. Happens a lot on certain type of pavement. Drives me crazy and of course the dealer was "not able to duplicate customer concern". Perhaps it's dependent on temperature?

visualfusion, where exactly did you stuff the freshener to eliminate the problem? Could you post a pic? Thanks!

I had the rattle. tell them, and they should replace the vent assembly.

HOWEVER, after they do the work, check in with them and make sure it is the right color. The one they put in mine looks fine when you look at it from the seat, but looks a couple shades off when you look at it from the outside with the door open. Mine is graphite. It's really bizarre too cause there really aren't many other interior colors. I think the one I got was just messed up.

mine rattles as well.. I was so pissed the first day about the rattles that I started punching the side of the car[panel] cause I didnt know where it was coming from.. Then i found out it was from the AC vent.. and i just punched that.. ANyways, I couldnt believe that a 35K car would have such problems..

Hey giddyup69, my forum name is "Skyline" written in Japanese, I thought that it would be original at first, but realized soon after that it's not recognizable by most people and unpractical. I couldn't change it after it's registered so I am stuck with it. (my signature is "Skyline Coupe" in Japanese)
I've read in a similar thread that this noise came from loosely fastened wires inside the door.... but who knows... may be the vent is acting as an opening to expel the noise from some where inside where some nuts or wires are ticking on some other parts?!? Yah, hopefully someone finds the cause and solution to this nuisance.
