I've read in a similar thread that this noise came from loosely fastened wires inside the door.... but who knows... may be the vent is acting as an opening to expel the noise from some where inside where some nuts or wires are ticking on some other parts?!?
Yah, hopefully someone finds the cause and solution to this nuisance.

My 6/mt rattles a hell of a lot in the vents especially on the highway. If you look at the service bulletins for the G35 on the infinitit website-there is a specific cause/solution for this issue:
http://www.infinitihelp.com/Ownershi.../ITB05-053.htm
I would assume that a dealer would have to perform these steps if you bring your g35 and complain of this?
I also wonder if a tech doing this would make the rattles go away or perhaps make more cuzz the panels are being taken on and off? The Silicon **** might really work on the vents w/out causing too much probelms though

Count me in as another one who has this rattle. It's been there since the car was just a few days old. It's annoying but doesn't bother me too much. I usually have my music turned up too loud to hear it anyway.
just to update my ticking sound that i mentioned in another thread:
-for those with the ticking sound that seems to be coming from the driver's vent: i went ahead and performed the 3m procedure in the article but it did not solve my problems. i still had the ticking noise. this passed weekend i managed to find out that the ticking noise is not coming from the vent but in all actuality it is coming from the lower cover under the steering wheel. my steering wheel is positioned fully forward and down. if yours is set-up this way and u have the dreaded ticking sound... this is most likely where the sound is coming from. i found 2 solutions... 1. move the telescoping wheel towards u (which sucked for me, because the wheel was too close) 2. take the bottom cover off and add some felt tape to a few of the areas. i did number 2 and my ticking noise is histroy.
-u can buy run-of-the-mill felt tape at your local hardware store and cut it to size... or u can buy the one nissan/infiniti uses here: http://performancenissanparts.com/ca...f8811e30bdffc7

Solution For The Rattle
I have been suffering from the same problem sine i got my coupe last august. I have looked through every TSB and have taken the car to the dealer 3 times and it is still there. I saw some post on how to fix it, but i don't remember wehre it was, but the solution worked!!!!! So, here is what you do:
1. go to any hardware store and purchase self adhesive felt pads (the kind you put under furniture, tables, chairs, etc.)
2. open the door nad stick the felt pad on it directly opposite the vent side. (in my case it did not stick to the door but it stuck to the actual vent side)
Once the door is closed, it will press against the vent and tighten it considerably eleminating all the rattling.

some of you could benefit by using some of the black silicone rtv. part of the rattles come from the vent plastic fins hitting the other plastic. just put a dab in some of the inside fins where they turn.
