if im not mistaken, we have xenon headlights, not quite HID. But i could be wrong. If so then i think thats probably why people are changing them

I changed the fogs to PIAA's, I changed the Xenon lights just to be different.. I installed bmw projectors and they are much better than the stock xenon lights.

Some might change the low beam HID bulbs to brighter bulbs (eg. Phillips). Most change the high beam/fog bulb (which is not HID) to a bulb that better matches their low beam HID bulb. While they are at it they may also change their clearance bulb.

Hope this answers your question.

I'd suggest that "everyone" doesn't. People post about doing it, they dont' post about NOT doing it.

no he wasnt suggesting not to do it... he was saying that not everyone changes them

also, xenon IS HID (high intensity diffraction??)

they change them to get a more bluer color, and/ or a better visibility, its just preference, costs about $100 for bulbs

newb question...probably all over and I'll take the verbal lashing...but you can just change the HID (low beam) to a different temp bulb as long as they are compatable right? No need to touch the ballast?

let the verbal lashings begin

Im reading about the Philips 4300k bulb, if these bulbs were to go into the G, would you need to get one of these full kits with the ballast, wires, etc, or can you just pop the bulb in?? Probably a dumb question but Id like to know. Also, what type of bulb size is needed for the G?

Not everyone feels the need to pump more money, time, effort, etc. into making something that works well, work different.

The originator wrote that "everyone" did it. I was suggesting that wasn't the case.

I did a full hid setup in my integra a several years ago. On a car that has HID you will not need the ballast. The problem is the the wiring between the wiring and the hid capsule can vary. I would pull it out, or find a picture of it, and find new capsules on the net with the same connectors.

Personally, I think the stock lights are in the 4400-5k range already. They are not very blue.
