G35 Abuse: and a funny smell/sound?

Me and my friends were opening up my G last night, Didn't go over 80, but got there pretty damn fast. After a while (30-40 mintues) it started to smell kinda funny, others noticed that as well, and when idleing it gave a little "puppp" to the sound out of the exaust.

This was after a very nice warm up, and some lesser agressive driving,

Is a stock 04 5AT just not ment to be raced around? Or is that normal of a Car when kept around the higher RPM's for a while, all those things are gone now (morning after)

oddly enough, I often find the smell eminating from the rear brake area. it seems that VDC may drag the rear brakes alittle when youre driving aggressively. Maybe thats why the rear brakes last 15-20K :/

If you are planning on driving the car agressively why wouldn't you turn the VDC off?

I drove my G35 about 150 miles round trip from NJ to the City. Averaged 80-85 on the turnpike the whole way down, and opened it up to about 100 at one point. Have never noticed any of that. But then again, I have VDC off always. The car deffinetly performs better with it off.

i have an '05 and there are a few windy roads between my office and home. i routinely wind it out and enjoy it for what it was meant for... there are times that i can smell the brake pads when i get out, but i've never faded them.

as for the VDC, the only difference i've noticed is the inability to light up the rear end around tight corners and the abs is a bit more active with it on.

On fast shifts with MT at higher rpms it will cut power in a significant way. The car just bogs momentarily.

Your 100% correct about that. This first thing i do after i start my car is turn that pesky VDC off. It is so much more fun to let the *** end drift a little in a turn when you give it some power. I leave it on only when its raining.
