Question Just passed 1200 miles..

..so this means oil change time, right? What type of oil do you recommend ('05 5AT)? Should I only change the oil? Should I take it to Infiniti or just go to like a Quik-Lube or something?

Thanks.

what are the specs of the "dyno oil" that I should tell the QL place to use? How much should this cost? - my previous cars all used synthetic, i don't know what a good price is.

also, if i baught a new g35, do I get free maintainence? and if so, how long does it last and is it only at the specified intervals or can I just bring it in with 1000 miles on it?

Just tell them to use 5W30 -- it'll be the latest version. They'll know all that stuff anyway at the dealer.
That's all you need to do now.
Unless you negotiated free maintenance when you bought it, you'll have to pay for non warranty items.

it's not "dyno" oil...it's DINO oil, short for dinosaur oil...the real oil and not the synthetic or blended stuff... i heard it's better to use regular oil up to around 10-15k, and then switch over to synthetic.

Any thoughts?

If you want to you can put synthetic in from the day you pick up the car. Waiting is a myth. Switching between DINO and synthetic and back again is also permittable. Reading information from reliable sources will confirm these facts.

Personally, I plan on changing the oil every 3000 so I'll likely stay with DINO oil. No reason not too. I like having my car on the lift periodically so it's no hassle - with the miles I drive this will get my car on the lift about 3 times a year - perfect for me..

A good 5W-30 is all you need. I changed my oil/filter after 2200 - seemed reasonable. There may have been microscopic particulates in the oil but it looked very clean to me. I did it more for piece of mind and rountine than necessity. I had it on the lift to install the splash guards anyway soooo.

Oh, and the clowns at the quik lube places will never touch this car. I prefer to do it myself. I bought a 5 quart jug and a filter for about $11.

I just got a new coupe myself, 05 6MT. After the 1200 miles Infiniti changes the oil for free? I was not aware of this.

Do we really have to change the oil right after break-in? Or could I just wait till I get to the 3K-3.5K range to do an oil change? I'm sorry, I'm just lazy and I don't have time. Thanks.

Where did you hear this? After I bought the car, they said you have to pay for all your oil changes.
