Dude, the first thing you need to do is some research...If you don't know what goes into forced induction, you shouldn't be doing it.
Secondly, you need money. If you have money, you can go to a good shop. I don't think it would be practical for someone who doesn't know what goes into a turbo kit to be doing it themselves.
Money = good shop = good install = no "toasting = fast G35

sure there may be some "bolt on" kits.. but a turbo is not really an at home DIY project.. aside from anything that just "bolts on", if you intend to make serious power or up the boost you will need someone to tune it for you.
yes sometimes things get blown up. but it's only those few that have video clips posted on the internet. nobody would want to see all the other cars on the dyno that don't get blown up. it would be boring to watch.

yea.
i think im gonna go ahead and save up, and get that vortec supercharger... im not tryin to enter a super-speed race or anything and i dont need all the power of a turbo kit. i just want a little pick-me-up for my car.
i know one guy on here has a vortec s/c does anyone else? i just wanted to know if there was a nice difference in performance and "take-off" speed.
and about my friend, he was trying to steer me away from shops because his friend had a shop put a turbo in a 03-4? eclipse and it got toasted. but i think that was the guys fault for not takin care of something.

i could understand if you drove a 1.8 Liter 135 HP miata like myself, and needed a little pick-me-up from that, but i can't really understnad needing a pick me up from a 298 HP monster.. i could understand if you wanted to build a 11-12 second beast.. but do you really want to spend 7-10K on a "pick me up" on a car that is plenty fast to begin with?

there are several people on this forum that have the vortech. have you seen the search function? there are tons of threads about SC vs TT, TT vs ST, what you need to do to make it safe, non-FI ways to make power, etc etc etc. My advice is spend some time sitting back and reading what other people say and collecting info. IMO, if you dont understand the basics of FI, you shouldnt even consider it.

i'm putting together my turbo kit also.
so far I have the turbo, wastegate, bov, intercooler, and this summer i'll be purchasing tubing to cut up for my intercooler plumbling, manifolds, downpipe and have a local welder weld it all up.
as for engine management, i'll be waiting until the AEM standalone comes out. They keep saying they're working on it on the electronic forums.
btw if you don't know what's in a turbo kit, you should really consider buying a premade one..
