Moving from an 04 AT to a 05 6MT..good deal?

Well guys, after having my 04 5AT for a year I am moving away from the AT and moving towards the 6MT. I thought that I could use the manumatic when I felt the need to shift, but it's just not as fun as the 6MT. I will probably be trading (if not selling privately) my 04 5AT black/black G coupe for a black/black 05 6MT with the same options (all but navi) and ofcourse, with the sport-tuned suspension.

My 04 has the trunk dynmatted and tacmatted, do you think this will degrade the value? Thanks for your input. I will be selling the sound system seperatly.

The 05 has 300 miles on it, so I am asking for 500 over invoice, and that seems to be going well. Do you think I should ask for less due to the miles? I am pretty excited to be moving to the 6MT, I am sure I will love it.

Look forward to hearing opinions
Thanks

-Mike

im lookin to get $31,000 privately for the 04. If I sold it with subs I would want a little more. I was thinking of not telling them about the dynamat. You might be able to tell on the trunk lid, when the handle to open it form the inside comes out you can see the dynamat. But I could take it off the top lid, they would never know about the rest.

Getting rid of a one year car to buy essentially the same thing with a manual tranny is really wasteful. Do a sanity check with your friends, not around here.

Its a few thousand extra, and the 05's have significant differences. Going from 280 to 298 HP, sport tuned suspension, upgraded interior. Only thing I am dissapointed about is the non-brembo setup, but o well. I think it's worth it.

I can tell you from experience it's expensive trading up so soon, but if it's what you want, go for it. It's your dough.
I'd sell privately tho. YOu'll ger much more than the dealer will give.

Brembo is essentially for bling and track. If you're not into either, the Infiniti brakes work better. Personally, I would like to have the Brembos in my 05

Mike, sounds like you need to put at least a few grands into this deal. Why not put a supercharger into your current car. No 6MT will be able to touch that...

His reason for it is not for the extra power, it's like he said that the 5AT just isnt' any fun.

Exactly, the 6MT is more for fun than power. The extra horsepower is welcome, but I just much prefer the fun of a 6MT. Since I live on Cape Cod in MA, there isnt LOADS of traffic either, so that is also a plus. The only time the traffic gets a little bit bad is in the summer in certain parts. The private buyer wants to pay $30,500 and trade in would be $28,000. Trade in would also be much easier since the dealer is closer to me and they buyer is from texas. Finances, and taxes are also easier on trade-ins. I can handle the extra dough, so I figure why not go for it!

Yup, if you can afford it, its your money. Have you considered trying to trade for an 04 6MT?

I have, but I think it would be a better idea to go for a 05 6MT since it has the extra power and the upgraded interior, along with the sport tuned suspenion and the 19" wheels and tires.

I was considering the same move since I missed the fun factor of a MT also. Even more so since my 04 5AT had just under 1k miles on it. Decided not to because I knew I was going to take a loss on the car...but if you got the dough GO FOR IT!
