you should have it transported on a truck. The truck will probably cost you about $1000 each way. But if you drive it you will be adding 1,600 miles to the lease, which will also cost you money. My opinion is tow it, dont put as much wear on the car, and save the miles on the lease.

If your mileage situation is not tight, then drive it. It's a great cruizer.

i would drive it. you don't drive that much, or that far when you are in college. espeically in a place like indiana where it's purely college town. I went to PSU so i know what it'slike in a college town. You mostly walk everywhere.

I would love to take a long road trip like that in my G...

Unfortunately living on a island, you can't even drive a 100 miles before you end up where you started from.

I would just drive it, like mentioned earlier, you won't be putting too many miles on it once your on campus.

I imagine you will be moving some of your stuff with you to college- I would rent a truck from Budget Truck Rental to haul your stuff and you can tow your car along.

drive it if you have the time. 800 miles of freeway driving in one trip is not a lot of wear and tear. i drove my WRX about that distance on my honeymoon, in the middle of june, in California. and that car had an extensively modified engine (100whp over stock for over 40,000 miles at that point) on the stock cooling system. i had absolutely 0 problems.

as for drive it vs. transport it... it's a matter of simple economics. what is the mileage overage fee? driving it (assuming a $.15 per mile over the lease, 20mpg, and 2.50 per gallon) would cost you $240 in excessive miles and $200 in gas for a whopping total of $440 round trip. that's quite a bit less than the estimated $1000 each way to transport it.

That might be okay, but just remember.. towing is very difficult and very dangerous if you are not experienced.

Parking at IU is a joke. I hope you won't mind parking at the football stadium.

When I pick up my Coupe from Grubbs I intend to drive it back to the Seattle area. If I didn't think the car will handle a trip like that I wouldn't buy it. Seattle-San Francisco is about 800 miles and I make that a couple of times a year in my 94GXE without a problem.
