Audi's have HID projectors which give it a nice color band at the light horizon. Even though the HID bulb is at 4300k, the color band has a large solid blue'ish section that we usually see. Often times, people will get 8000k HID bulbs to immitate this color in the color band, but by doing so, the high color temp doesnt light up the street very well. I would never go any more than 6000k... but thats just me. IMO, anything beyond that is loosing ALOT of lighting to a point that normal halogen might be better! If you want the same color as the Audi's, get HID projectors and retrofit them into the headlights of your car.

6000k is slightly blue, but still bright enough to light up the street as HIDs should. 8000k are straight up BLUE, they look great, but the light shining on the street is horrible and halogen might even be brighter. 10000k is just gettin ridiculous, and the color is purpleish.

OEM hids are usually 43000k, and I think the S2000's is 47000k. Alot of these HID setups look so nice because of their projectors that they have. So far, the S2000's projector is the best! Its bright, spreads wide and evenly, and the horizon cutt-off has a nice color band and also sharp!

Also, HID bulbs tend to "fade" over time. After alot of usage, the color temp of the bulb being used will become cooler after time. Meaning it usually becomes bluer.

I have some McCulloch 6000K bulbs, they're pretty nice. 8000K would be nice too, but I think anything higher than that just give off too little light.

I have 8000K and there not that bad. 6000K are not as Blue but give better light across the road/field. I accept the lose of brightness for the look, JMO

Retro Projectors into your housing. That way you get the "blue" your looking for while upgrading (not downgrading) your lights!

You don't need a full HID kit, just a pair of bulbs. The bulbs you need for your HID is D2R, make sure to get that, NOT D2S, as they are diffrent.

I got my bulbs for around $130 I think.

To make your fogs match your low beam, you need to pick which HID you want first, then get a bulb with the closet color rating.

I would recommend only Philips bulbs. The best on the market IMO. And like the others are saying, don't go any higher than 6000k....

click here for a link to info on custom headlamp work.

click here for a thread that should cover everything you need to know about G35 bulbs/lamps.

One options that I might actually end up doing is swapping out the foglight halogen setup with an HID conversion kit with matching HID bulbs as the low beams. Another option is that once you swap out the HID low beams to what you want, find a manufacturer that has a close color. Piaa superwhites will be closer to the whiter end of the HID light spectrum. Piaa plasma GTX is a tad bluer with a slight hint of purple. Piaa Plasma is a little bluer that that, with a little bit more purple. Plasma's would probably be the closest to 6000k... but dont quote me on that its been a long time since I've seen them side by side.
