Clear Coat Paint Protector and Splash Guards

Just ordered my 6MT from dealer. I am waiting. Called dealer asking various questions. He mentioned some kind of clear coat paint sealer / protector. The will reapply it every 7 years. Retails for about 299.

Anyone know about this? is it worth it?

Also, thinking about splash guards. Saw (through this site) link to aftermarket supplier. is it better to get through dealer or after market.

Rear only or both?

thanks

Don't waste your money on clear coat sealer, its a dealer gimick and would cost you under $50 to do it yourself. Personally, I've never seen a difference in the paint of a car with it and a car without it. Use the $300 to get yourself the splash guards or sat radio!

Actually I've seen alot of hazy paint jobs as a result of cheesy dealer clearcoating. I agree I think it's just a money making scheme. Get a clear bra though from 3M I have heard it's worth all $600-800 dollars. As for the splash guards I don't like them and since I will be getting a "mild" body maybe the IMPUL I think it's a waste for me. To each his own though. Peace.
