Revving the Rice Rockets
And in response to others, no I am in fact not a car enthusiast. I drive a G35 and come to this site to find out as much information as possible about my car and laugh at some of the funny debates that go on here. I find a good amount of useful information here amongst the posts.
You have read what I think being a ricer is, and I'm also starting to think that those that have taken so much offense to my definition of a ricer might actually be ricers themselves... You wouldn't be hot about it if it didn't offend you. It wouldn't offend you if you didn't see a little bit of the rice in yourself.

My '97 GSX had about $7000 in aftermarket performance parts. It ran on the OEM wheels and tires and ran the OEM bodywork. Clean would be an understatement. All the effort went into the engine, with some minor suspension tweaks. At 325 HP, I was never beat and I picked on a lot of big dogs (C5 'Vettes were always over-confident suckers ready to run... ...at least the first time around.
) It became an underground, local legend within a year of the mods. Hardly anybody worth running would run with me anymore.
Even a forced-induction powered G coupe would not have had a chance. A stock-turbo GSX, sure.
People take what they can get and use it to achieve their goal. If they're resourcefull enough to turn a Civic into something that will eat a 'Vett's rump, then I applaud them. They couldn't afford a Corvette to start with, but they're still getting the performance fix they're craving.
As far as "Rice" goes... ...you could see from my approach with the GSX that neither it or I could be considered a "ricer". I'm taking a reserved approach with the G35, doing very little performance-wise (for now) with some cosmetic changes and the obligatory aftermarket wheels/tires. Am I going to get some "ricer" comments from ignorant douches that have no idea of what I used to pilot and why I took a different approach this time? Absolutely. Do I really care? Not only have I launched harder and experienced accelerative forces beyond what most others have or will ever experience in a car, but it was also my daily driver.
So no, I won't care. The ignorant douches know not of what they speak. But they certainly look more cool after elevating themselves by dissing someone else, don't they?
Meh. They're in every forum on the net.

I don't usually post here I mostly just read and hang out, but for this post I just have to come out and say something. How on earth can a person think they are better than another on the account of driving a more expensive car? We drive G35's not Ferrari's, yes they are nice cars, but as someone else mentioned cheap is a relative term and to some our cars are cheap. To me it appears as if your an ignorant and arrorgant person overall and I am sad to see a perfectly good board for enthusiats run down by people like you.
I do take some offense to that because every cheaper japanese car is not rice. 4 years ago I had a civc Si that was very clean on the outside nothing more done to it than 17 inch wheels. But the car was quite fast, in fact it was considerbally faster than my G being that it was supercharged among other things. I in fact hate the term rice. I always say to each their own, you may do something to your car that I wouldn't do, but who the hell am I to say it's "rice".... We all have different tastes and that is what makes the whole car scene intersting. Okay that's enough ranting for now.
