attention AT G owners :)

hey, i want some feedback from AT G owners who have modified their cars.
its been a month and couple days since i got my G (yes and already a dent on my fender, which i was looking for a way to fix and feedbacks from others )
anyways, i've frequently seen people trading in AT(bone stock) and get MT and start modify. i really wanna get into some hardcore stuffs but i am not really sure that if the mods. are going to be worth it. i know you would say its my choice since it's my car and forget about peer pressure but i really hear more things from other people. i am just not sure if mod. on AT car is the way i wanna go with.

well simply i wanna know what you guys have in your mind

It seems like u don't want to mod ur AT, then i think you should trade in for a MT so u won't regret later.
I really don't see the problem modding a AT car, afterall, it has sportmatic shifting and it is still alot of pleasure driving it. You can't have the belief that MT is better than AT. It really depends on the driver. It's true that AT is not as fast as MT with the same mod. If u really care about performance alot, you should trade in for a hardcore performance car like STi, EVO.

Well, afterall, you are the one driving it. You should follow what you really want. Good luck~

My 5AT is pretty well modded and I'm as happy as can be. I do a little AutoX and get plenty of time at the drag strip. I've only run into one track model 350Z that is consistently faster than me at the strip. With my new differential and track rims and tires setup I think that I can take him.

I just wish that it wasn't so freakin hot out here right now. If it was cooler I think that maybe I could run high 13s.

If you're thinking about forced induction, and the AT can handle it, give it some consideration. The seemingly continuous surge of acceleration in a turbo, auto trans car is very nice! Couple this with consistent, fast, nearly fool-proof shifting and you're on your way to a fast time, every time.

I'm still a manual sort of guy, but if I was thinking of forced induction I almost certainly would go with the AT for overall convenience, performance and consistency. But... ...been there, done that... ...with both types of transmissions. Staying N/A this time around.

Get some grounding wires for the shift lag and you'll enjoy it better....and yes....they really work. You can add a z-tube and pop charger or K&n filter for a nicer growl and maybe a horse or 2 more...otherwise dont bother spending $1,000's on performance mods that may total 20 real ponies......if you really want more power...supercharge...cheapest/safest power per $.
Also...try "launching" you 5at properly after break-in...see if you need more power after that.

it really doesn't matter if it's a 5AT or 6MT.it doesn't matter if it an infiniti or porsche.you can mod a civic or a minivan and beat a ferrari.
it all coming down to how far you want to go.what is your goal.what are you looking to gain and how much can you afford to spend.

Just bought an 04 5AT

I just got my own 04 5AT and I'm looking to start modding it. What should I do first? I need to do something simple since I moved and don't really have any tools up here yet. I'm thinking maybe the nismo cold air intake or maybe the stillen catback exhaust. Any suggestions? I'm low on $'s btw

Get the Injen CAI. Easy to install and you don't really need many tools. an 8MM / 10MM wrench and a flat head. The exhaust might be a bit tougher because I think you need a certain tool to tighten the bolts. Don't want it coming loose and falling out on ya

I don't recommend CAIs, but that's just my opinion. Since you have an '04 I'd start with the plenum spacer or Crawford plenum.
