As far as comfort goes there is no additional noise. The RPMs are slightly higher of course. The throttle definitely feels more responsive. I can't wait to get it on the track.

I had it done at Performance Nissan in Duarte, CA. A differential rebuild will run you about $1000 parts and labor included. Your best bet is to find someone who has upgraded to a Nismo LSD and see if they'll sell you their OEM unit. You'll save a ton on labor that way since it doesn't have to be rebuilt, just bolted up to your axle. Just make sure that it is a limited slip differential (very important if you are into racing).
Thanks for the info roneski.....i am seriously considering this mod after i do headers, cats, y-pipe and maybe exhaust....

you lost me on the Nismo upgrade........i could use the search and read some, but im tired this evening so maybe you can just explain what is the advantage of the Nismo LSD.......if someone upgrades to the Nismo LSD if they already have OEM LSD is it the gear ratio difference? if so, can you list the diff. ratios available and what you had and changed too (i remember reading this somewhere)

5AT = 3.2 final drive stock
6MT = 3.5 final drive stock

In both cases not every model comes with a VLSD, some are just regular open differentials So be sure that if you get someones old pumpkin that you really know what you're getting.

Some of the more hard core 6MT guys switch up to 3.9 final drives and or switch to aftermarket differentials. If you get lucky you can find someone who has upgraded and still has their old 3.5 VLSD sitting around.

And yes you could take a 5AT and put in a 3.9 final drive (I've never heard of anyone actually doing it) but you'd be looking at a highway cruising RPMs higher than 4000 most likely. It wouldn't be real comfortable or fuel efficient.

just gotta step back... look at your car. Is that the car you want to be driving? If yes, mod away.
If you think you may want a stick. Go test drive a 6MT, and see if its for you.
