Hey guys this is my first post cause up untill this point I've been able to answer all my questions thru the search function...I've got a 04 6mt and last night I was on the highway and I decided to get on it....dropped down to 3rd....went close to redline then to 4th.....got close to red line and put the car in neutral and cruised...looked down and all the red lights on the dash were on....the car had turned off.......pushed the clutch down and was able to turn it back on....This scared me stiff....but I wanted to know if it was a one time thing so I waited till I was alone on a straight area and I got on it again...same thing...this time I noticed my power steering had gone out too.....any idea why this happend? Gonna take my car to the dealership to get looked at...but I wont be able to do that for another week...thank you in advance for all your help.

Do you have an aftermarket cold-air intake? If so, take it off. They are known for this problem and are dangerous, as you can tell.

I agree with dentalstud......pop-chargers are especially bad about doing this when lifting throttle at speed.

It sounds like you either stalled the car (via the neutral coasting), or the MAF triggered the shutdown (maybe your sensor is on the fritz?)...I'm interest to hear what your setup is

I had the same problem... and as it turned out, it was my Injen CAI that caused the problem.

sounds like it could be a fuel problem. This only happens after WOT? Might want to get your fuel pump checked.

Thanks guys....my intake set up is the 350z tube with a k&n filter...I'll put the stock back on and then take it in to get the fuel pump checked out....I didn't know that it was bad to coast....this is my first manual car...I'll put it in gear from now on...thanks again

If I put my 67 Nova (although a completely different animal than the G) into neutral after hittin it hard on the freeway it would die too, just not something you do with a manual car. Your fuel pump is probably fine, but checking your air sensors is definately a good idea as those can be damaged very easily during intake installs and if those sensors arent working, your car will not idle correctly, especially after just being redlined.
