Most factory paint has some kind of orange peel. Its more noticeable on darker colors, especially when its high polished.

I'm just saying that because mine is smooth as silk on the sides and hood/truck. I only have it on the rear bumper plastic and plastic factory side skirts.

I'm Black on Black as well

How did it sound when you connected your speakers directly to the HU on your RSX? Any difference?
I can't honestly remember. I also added an amp and sub in the trunk all at the same time as the bass before hand (stock bose system) was complete crap. Just want to know all this for the future. I like the Pioneer unit better than the stock Nav unit (not to mention, it's cheaper). I don't like it popping out of the dash like that, I prefer the look of yours. Just want to make sure I can install it in without rewiring the stereo really.

Yeah, you can definitely install it without rewiring any part of the bose stereo.

I'd love to come to hawaii, but it would take a lot of hula dancers for me to do that again...

Just following up on an old debate.... Here are some more pictures that show orange peel.

Orange peel is a below surface texture under the clear coat. It has nothing to do with the surface being smooth.

My surface is smooth as glass...

Like I said before most factory paint has some kind of orange peel. Its more noticeable on darker colors, especially when its high polished.

Every paint job is going to show orange peel. It's caused by the clear coat. You can take a very fine sandpaper and wet sand the area. Then compound and buff it out with the wheel. I had my old car painted and had orange peel. I did this procedure to the whole car and it came out looking like glass. My friend who owns a bodyshop told me that's how they do it.
