Help 2005 vs 2004 automatic

Hi, I'm a newbie here, tried to post this yesterday but it didn't seem to happen, my apologies if it shows up as a duplicate posting....

Just came back from dealer in Fla. Looking at auto 2005 coupe with premium package at $250 over invoice vs auto 2004 coupe with navigation, premium package, performance tire and wheel and 2.9% financing at $1550 under invoice. Is this a good deal for either model year or should discount be greater? The 2004 which has lower horsepower feels like it accelerates better. Anyone else experience this? Any thoughts on the differences between the 2 model years and the deal?

Which dealer gives $250 over invoice in Florida??

The 2004 and 2005 auto have the same exact horsepower, the only thing that changed in 05 on the automatic is the interior and the optional sport tuned suspension package, which comes with 19" wheels and limited slip differential among other things. The G has a great resale value, so I doubt it has depreciated much since last year's model, but it has definitely depreciated more than the $1550 you're getting under invoice. The $250 over invoice, esp. in FL just sounds too good to be true, that's better than what 99% of the people here bought their 05's for. How many miles do both cars have? Do you care if the car has some test drive miles on it? Do you prefer the upgraded interior on the 05 better than having Navigation? If they're different colors, which one do you like better? You should be able to find a rate between 3.5-5% on the 05 without a problem, so I don't think the interest rate plays much of a role. Think about all these little details, you don't want to buy a car and then go through buyer's remorse.

both deals are great however some items to point out on the 2005...

2005 REAL aluminum console
2005 improved interior
2005 improved suspension and 19"ers

i've heard from other posts the manumatic in the 2005 is improved over the 2004

are you going to lease or buy ? if buy when do you plan to sell it (better resale for a 2005 then a 2004)

such a tough call to make... I love my Nav and the 2004 has it (2004=loaded) guess it boils down to this...

I'd buy the car for performance and luxury so the 2005 would get my vote

if i traveled alot and had no plans to sell the car = run it to the ground id pick the 2004. but c'mon lol traveling in the g35... you'll need to change your tires every time you go on a trip.

wish i could be of more help

ppp

Actually the 04 and 05 coupes both have 280 hp. Only the manual got the extra hp. Also, the 05 auto coupe is 64 lbs. heavier than the 04.

The manual lost 10 torque and the auto stayed the same.

The 2004 had 270 ft lb of torque too, but how does that help the original poster to make a decision?

03-04 auto coupes were also 280 hp 270 tq.
Anyways, I would go with the 05 because of the nicer interior, even if the 03-04 is marginally faster due to its lighter weight. However, navi can make the difference if you really want it.

Get the 05!!!!!! You'll regret later.....no offense to all 2003-2004 owners but the interior looks cheap.

You can always put some kind of NAV in later. The interior your stuck with.

The automatic rev matches in the 05s only. The 04 does not have that feature.

You guys are great, thanks for your fast replies and great input. 2004 has Brembo brakes and performance tire package. Does that impact your opinions at all or is everyone still for 2005?

It can't be an automatic like you previously posted, and have Brembo brakes at the same time (unless someone did a tranny swap or a brake job on it ). Brembos only came on 03/04 6 speed manuals. Again, what dealer is that?

go with '05...you can always get an aftermarket big brake kit and better wheels than the 18s of the performance package....

Thanks again for the information about the brakes. Its always nice to know that theres a way to check the salesmans accuracy. I want to withhold the name of the dealer until after I make my deal. This is the last loaded 2004 on the lot. I have a '97 Accord to trade and I'm bringing that car into the dealer in the the next (2) days at which time this great pricing could fall apart with a lousy trade in value. You guys have been very helpful in making a decision and I hope I'm not insulting anyone by not being forthcoming about the dealers name. The dealer says they want to make a deal by the end of the month. The 2005 comes with the standard 17" wheels. Do they last longer than the low profiles in the tire performance package? Thanks again.

Manny
