I never suggested that indiscretion played a role – I did suggest that inexperience likely is a contributor to these “problems.” I’m gonna put you down as fitting this characterization as it seems very important to you that you convince everyone that you didn’t simply miss a shift, but rather that the poorly designed, untested prior to production, clutch sometimes just doesn’t work. lol

So anyway... ... ... ... ...

I was just curious if anyone had these problems before. I appreciate some of your replies. I would consider myself great at driving clutch, but I guess that I am not perfect, few people are "perfect."

Also, I do not think that I ever stated that it was on a public road, did I? No, so GeeLickMyNUtz I think that you need to read more carefully and stop being so gay about law enforcement. My driving record is 100% clean and I have never been in an accident.

I guess that after 1200 miles I got a little excited and decided to have fun with my car. The thing that scared me is that the 1st time that I try something fun, the car does not perform as expected. One other thing, I did not miss a gear. If I had missed a gear I would not have gotten the smell of burnt clutch.

Anyway, thank you to the people that replied with a sincere response. I am going to drive the car and hopefully my clutch will hold up. If it slips again, I am taking it back to the dealer.

Others have posted "similar" experiences to yours in this thread. I'd say a little more "testing" is in order to pinpoint the issue(s) for your infiniti service tech. If you search geewillikers posts (no offense/disrespect intended gee, I swear, even though some of your responses scream otherwise) you will find a biased, predetermined, ____________ (fill in the blank) regarding spirited driving of OUR factory designed Sport Coupe. I am not one to condemn nor condone driving styles, spirited or Granny-style. It's wasted words. I'd rather watch the traffic around me than concern myself with your "missed shifts, u-turns, bad launches, etc", lol.

Good luck troubleshooting your issue, if one exists.

None taken, and you're right - except for one point - my biased, predetermined, ____________ (fill in the blank - I choose attitude) also applies to the sedan. And I do differentiate between 'spirited driving' and 'idiotic driving' although it may not seem so.

i have an 05 and i too have experienced this problem about 2 or 3 times.. each time i was like wtf? it was exactly how you described it.. and i smelt the clutch also.. it was def clutch and not tire.. there is def a problem somewhere in the tranny where it dosnt like to engage if you rev to high and stay on the gas when releasing the clutch.. has anyone called infiniti and asked about this?

I had this happen in my 2003 actually my wifes. We just got it 2 weeks before. She was driving and does not know how to "squeal wheels" but was doing a WOT on a striaght road. She did not break traction in 1ts gear and when she shifted to 2nd the clutch just slipped. She said the chutch pedal did not feel like it came all the way back up. I know this is not this is not recomeded driving or shifting procedure but I do agree that most other cars and all others that I have driven do not behave this way. I don't think this should be treated like Paitient: "Doc, It hurts when I do that." Doc: "Don't do that."
I believe there is a issue here. The G35 is a great LUXURY COUPE. It is clearly not designed as a sports/race car. This doesn't really change my opinion of the car but I think owners who have not seen this problem yet should be aware that it does happen.

If you weren't on a public street, I would have expected you to clarify that point in your first attempt at a response to me earlier in this thread. You didn't, so I expect this claim to be a pearl you dreamed up overnight to try to overcome your lack of creativity before. Nice try, but not buying it. Your previous threads led me to believe you were at it again. At this point, it doesn't matter - it'll obviously take something more extreme to teach you a lesson. I hope someone you care about isn't in the car with you when it happens. With antics like yours it's only a matter of time before your clean driving record is anything but. Not if, but when. I expect we'll see a thread then about how it wasn't your fault, or some dumb cop, etc.

By the way, have you beaten your bosses FX-45 yet? Maybe your clutch is finally showing the wear you've put on it street racing. The 2000K drops have surely continued, no? Maybe your drivetrain is starting to show the fatigue from your driving style.

Following the laws that I elected representatives to create (do you vote?) isn't gay. For me, it's a reflection of integrity, honor, and responsibility. Maybe mom and dad didn't teach you the meaning of those words or how to live by them. If they did, then I'm sure they wouldn't approve of your childish antics either.

My opinion comes from not being good at 'do as I say, but not as I do.' I don't enjoy high taxes, high insurance premiums, or watching my friends/subordinates go through the pain and anguish an irresponsible driver can cause. My behavior behind the wheel reflects that. Would you have spun that u-turn with your family in the car? Maybe you haven't been around long enough to learn the hard way - time will tell.

And as for the GeeLickMyNutz moniker. Please - spare me. You sound like you're in the 6th grade (and maybe you are - late bloomer perhaps?) You'll have to do better than that.

well how about this.. it happened to me in 1st gear not just 2nd.. explain the missing shift there? i hope to god your being sarcastic my girl who also drives a 04 g35 6spd did the same thing when she drove my car and was like wtf

Regardless of if the G is a sport coupe, sportscar, or pickup truck, any OEM clutch should be able to handle the OEM power of the car and a semi-aggressive launch. If it can't, there's a problem. Same goes for shifts. It should be able to hold WOT quick shifts without slippage, especially with low miles. I'm not talking about power shifting or things of the such, but instead just quick and decently hard shifts.

My 96 Maxima, 90 CRX Si, and 86 Accord LXi never exhibited problems holding power with the clutch. My 2900lb Maxima with 205whp/200wtq had a better HP/torque ratio than a stock 6MT G and the Maxima never had an issue with any slippage. That car went 14.3s@100mph.

How about some of you who have the problem, see if you can duplicate it? If so, it can be shown to a tech... ...and you can then hit Infiniti up for replacement based upon the saftey issue, among other issues.

If you suddenly had to get out of the way of a vehicle that was about to hit you and you needed to pop the clutch out and go... ...or you needed to shift to second at high RPMs, then where does a non-engaging, half-way returned clutch pedal leave you? Revving beyond the what's considered the ideal RPM for a fast 1/4 mile time could be considered a likely and forgiveable response in such a situation.

As long as Infiniti doesn't know *wink*wink* anything about the problem (no documentation that they've been made aware of it) then they have no incentive to replace a faulty part or to even look into an issue with an OEM part on a new vehicle.

It's those of you who are having problems that need to make Infinitni aware. And DOCUMENT YOUR EFFORTS! Forget about getting anywhere at the dealership, since it's not their call and making them aware isn't the same as making Infiniti N.A aware.

My 2004 never showed any slipping clutch problems. I beat the heck out of it too at the track, etc.

My 2005 when I get it will most likely be good as well. I always break in my brakes and clutch properly before pushing them hard at the track, etc. 1300 miles is really not enough for the clutch adn clutc disc to seat properly. So it can also not grip as well. I have a 05 Loaner right now with 1000 miles. The brakes still aren't as grabby as they should be yet.
