Mod Noob here.

If I were to get a g35 in December or January.

I would eventually after a couple months want some mods.

I have never bought a mod before, or installed them.

So say I start out with a new Exhaust, and CAI. Who would I take the car to, to install these? the dealer?

I found a yahoo site that sells the stuff, just dont know who would install them for me, and how much do they usually charge?

Ok the exhaust says it adds about 10 horse, and the CAI says about 10 horse.

So I figure with both on I gain about 20 hp and 15 lb of torque. What does that really do for performance, would my g35 now be able to take a stock 350z? whats my 0-60 and quarter mile increase? I meen thats about 1200 in parts so I wanna know what I am going to gain. Thanks

Well 1st thing is to search the site. If you have a question I'm sure someone else have had a similiar question before.
2nd, if you're going to get a G35 in dec/jan, it's only June right now laddy...slow down and do some searching. There's no need to post just yet. A couple of months ago I wasnt even looking for a g35...I was looking for a STi. You might change your mind.
3rd, I dont think exhaust adds 10hp...test pipes maybe to the flywheel. And just because something adds 10hp and something else adds another 10hp doesnt mean you'll have 20hp. That's called ricer math. The only true way to confirm how your specific car responds to the mods is by going to the dyno or something along those lines.

yea thats why I said I was a noob to mods lol.

I still have a few cars in my head,

g35 (new), used c6, used m3, 330i (new), IS350.

I still think I want the g35 the most, but we will see in 7 months how I feel.

Where do you do dyno tests btw?

alot of auto shops can do it for you.. next time you go to a shop notice the two big round wheels that are built into the ground or on a drive on lift looking thing...

first read a few things about engines before you MOD.. you have to know what your doing first

Well, I always see people say they get a new exhaust and a CAI. So it doesnt seem that bad if I added them too?

I guess Ill have to find some shops in my area that install these parts, and see how much they charge.

I'm not a mod n00b overall, but I'm still learning about the G. Frankly, I'm beginning to think that FI (supercharging or turbocharging) are the only worthwhile mods to put money into with this car. It doesn't really seem to respond very favorably to lesser mods. Manufacturer's claims on gains are somewhat exaggerated; the dyno testing has shown that you gain really small numbers from most of the cheap bolt-on stuff.
