Best Car MAG????
I'm a huge magazine nut, getting Motor Trend, Automobile, Car & Driver (and Speed), Road & Track & SCC every month with Modified Mag, Import Tuner & Super Street pretty much monthly with the occasional pass if they don't look good. I've been reading Super Street, SCC & Turbo since they were first released. They have changed over the years a lot!
SCC is your best bet, IMO, with the technical articles and well-written features on the rides. Super Street seems to have gone the complete opposite direction and is usually all superficial, with nice pics of cars and girls. Great for the HS study-hall crowd, but lacking for the real enthusiasts. Good luck finding anything out about the featured cars without looking in the stat box. Those F'n slackers, Raoul being the worst, will spend 2-3 pages talking about the number the noodles did on the intensinal tract and then stick a one or two-liner in about the actual car. Absolutely F'n worthless now, unless you just like looking at pics. And to seem to take so much pride in providing nothing but BS filler.
I did see about a month ago or so that Raoul has left Super Street and is now working on a VW spin-off mag. Good luck to them, and hopefully the pride in writting articles that have nothing to do with the feature car will soon end at Super Street. They used to be a good mag back when Matt Pearson was running things.
Try reading any article in SS and then pick any random article from SCC and the difference will be obvious. Dave Coleman has some real talent and all of the others also craft articles leagues above what you'll find in SS.
I have no ties to any of these mags. I'm just an avid auto-mag reader and am well aware of what these titles have been and what they offer now. I've started to prefer Modified Mag over Super Street now that SS is so lame! And Import Tuner... ...it's really just pics from the shows. Very seldom do I find anything of substance in there... ...but at least they don't seem to take pride in avoiding writting articles about the cars pictured.

man that was real deep analysis, thanx guys. i think im gonna put in my subscription for SCC and Super Street, and from researching prices its seems like most of these mags are owned by the same company, Primedia?
most of the import mags are all owned by Primedia, you are correct.. Right now I'm subscribed to Turbo, Modified, Super Street and Car & Driver. If I had to pick one I'd get Modifed. They seem to have the best featured cars and the pics in the magazine seem to be better quality.

Obviously I'm quite biased. But have any of you read Sport Z Magazine (www.sportzmagazine.com)? For a G owner, I money-back guarantee there isn't a better, more thorough magazine for the G35 enthusiast.
In our new issue alone (Summer 2005) you'll find the following stories:
-An article on a supercharged G35 coupe with full details, pics, and a sidebar of specs.
-A six-way turbo shootout for the G/Z (a G35 coupe was included) with JWT, GReddy, Turbonetics, APS, PE, and SFR.
-A practical Q&A perfomance driving session with our motorsports editor, which covers heel-toe downshifting, whether it's beter to double clutch or power shift, and how to best drive your AT G (in sport mode) into corners.
-Details on new products for the G including 06 clues, an AWD coupe, and new plenum spacers.
-An interview with the head of Grubbs Infiniti and G3, with talk about some of their exciting new products for the G (like a supercharger that fits under the stock hood).
-A review and install advice of a sound-deadening product for the G that lowers road noise and improves bass response from the radio.
-Coverage of an 8-G dyno day, with details on mods and the resulting gains. So the information is more helpful, we also supply year/transmission/mileage.
-A step-by-step how-to for changing spark plugs in the G35. With a series of figures and easy-to-follow steps, any G owner can do this.
-There is a calendar of major events for both G and Z owners.
Seriously, you could buy every single magazine listed above and still not get as much G35 information as you would get in one single issue of SZM. Plus, the Editor-In-Chief (that would be me) owns a G35. So if you are looking for women draped on cars, puff pieces where all the meat is in a spec list, or overly showy bling vehicles (lowered, Dubs, wings, gold plate, etc.), well, than Sport Z might not be for you. If you are looking for practical advice (from driving to maintenance to performance), fun stories on other Gs, and the latest news on your car, then give us a shot. If you have any questions, write me at editor@sportzmagazine.com. Thanks for the soapbox.
