Security

Do our G35s have good security? Is it true there is no shock sensor? Is there a way to have the car lock itself, like my old alarm? It would arm itself if I did not after about 30 seconds…locking the doors and turning the alarm on.

When I turned on my old car (with the alarm) it would automatically lock the doors, any way for out G35s to do this?

Also, does anyone have Lojack (sp?)? Is this worth it and where can I get it cheap?

Or should I get an alarm, what do you guys recomend?

It does have the blinking light though on the left side of the dash that sure makes it look like there's an alarm. I recently just bought a Compustar 2WSS-AS alarm for my car, getting it installed this weekend. Remote start on the 6MT, yeah!!!

ahhhhhh the 05 does come with a stock passive alarm. I would upgrade tho .. there is no shock sensor on the OEM/stock alarm. All it will do is sound the alarm (your horn) if the doors are opened without a key or turning the alarm off. Upgrade for better piece of mind ... Good luck

G do have "alarm"? but if there is no shock sensors, what triggers the alarm then? dome light? if its a "passive" alarm? so it will arm itself? if i left door unlocked after while it will arms and when I try to open the door, horn will sound?...have to try that in the morning...

I have not looked very close at the system but it should sound the alarm when the door is open through the door pin movement. As well as the trunk and hood if they are also armed (Again, not sure if those are either) as for auto locking the doors. The remote has to be programmed I think for it to do that. I still have my stock alarm hooked up as well as my after market. I know the horn/alarm will sound if you set it and then open the door.

G35's alarms are terrible and can be easliy by-passed to get in the car without the alarm sounding off. I would upgrade if you decide to get one. I do not think any factory stock alram comes with a shock sensor.

Locking system

There is an auto locking system on the G, but it is very limited. If you use the keyfob to unlock the doors and then do not either start the car or open the trunk the car will automaticly lock itself after 1 minute.

The question is, do alarms even work nowadays? If I'm on the street and I hear an alarm, I don't even look around. It's just like background noise to me.

stock alarm is set when you lock the doors and will activate if the hood or doors are opened. There is no shock sensor,
but you can add one yourself for about $30.

Redwillow - you are my hero. I think I'm going to try it just without the diodes. I wonder if a relay would help in any way? Where did you pick up the DEI part? Direct from DEI?

Anyway, thanks for the great write-up.

redwillow - You're a disgrace to zip-tie heros everywhere. Cut off that excess length and rotate that eyelet down to the bottom!

Damn good idea, btw.

i think you will need the diodes to isolate this signal. I take absolutely no responsibility if you don't use them and fry your BCM.
You can get the sensor here
