AT Timing Issue

I am not an expert on cars (disclaimer ^^)
But my friend told me that the AT coupe's timing is off and it can be a bit of an issue. Is this true and if it is, can one fix it?

You mean ignition timing? It's all factory set and somewhat adjustable at the dealer thru his ConsultII scan tool.
I doubt that it's off, but if you feel your timing is bad, have the dealer check it.

So the dealer can essentially tweek our cars a few more degrees. Why aren't we all doing this, does it get diluted over time with the learning function of the ecu?

I believe my dealer has been told to not make any such adjustments unless necessary. Apparantly it's not gas mileage (pollution) friendly, and can complicate detonation issues.
As to how far the learning algo will adjust the timing, nobody seems to know. It probably has its limits.
You're right tho, peeps should be asking at the dealers about such 'adjustments'.

I got a brochure from Infiniti touting thier special performance tuning package for any car they sell. I wonder if ecu adjustments are part of it?

Not sure but the brochure says: "I-valuation" Performance Evaluation and some BS about a more comprehensive understanding of you Infiniti..vague marketing for not much substance.
