You are right..why rush I dont drive that much, only about 34 round trip each day to work...

 

lol, my 1200 came and went within a week. 84 miles round trip to work and up to the lake each weekend has put me around 2600 miles in just 3 weeks. My wife has 58K on her 3.5 SE in less than 21 months. Yuck, we both drove a lot. Thanks for bringing up this topic of how much we all spend on gas.

 

I know you are not to take it on long trips without stops during break-in but what is considered long? I am going to Santa Barbara this Sat, about 90 miles each way, is that too long to do without stops considering my car will have about 200 miles?

 

Don't need to run it softly. Push it every minute you get. Been doing that since day one. =)

Long trips are fine - just vary your RPMs and don't use the cruise.

The subject of break in has been hashed and re-hashed. Some take their chances following the manual, others take their chances other ways.

In the end it's your car and can do what you want - break-in and prior owner bad habits are two things that keep me out of the used car market. It's one of the few times when what you don't know might very well hurt you.. LOL..

I followed the manual and never thought the ODO would hit the magic number.
