I find it interesting how there are whole threads about the meaning of rice and how it pertains to calling a car something that it is not, doing modifications that offer no performance benefit, and in general being a posuer, but no one thinks calling an INFINITI G35 purchased in NORTH AMERICA a SKYLINE 350GT is ricey.

The Infiniti G35 is CLEARLY NOT the SKYLINE 350GT for the obvious reasons that the car is NOT sold by Nissan in North America, it says INFINITI all over, it is a left hand drive car, and on and on.

THOSE WHO BADGE THE INFINITI AS A SKYLINE OR 350GT ARE RICERS IN THE TRUEST FORM.

I agree with ^^

I get a good laugh when i see an integra/rsx re-badged with "H"onda. Same applies to G35 > 350GT. It's almost as silly getting //M floor mats and slapping on the //M emblem.

It's your car, rice it up the way you want!!

u sound like a poser to me. do u feel better then drivers driving a Nissan???
so u think ur car wearing the Infiniti badge makes u think u drive a prestige luxury car?

well, ur car is just a rebadge Nissan, directly from the factory. and who cares if the car is sold by who ever in North America. we all know its made by Nissan Japan and the both come out the same production line.

rice rice baby.

The emblem just clips into the grill. Just unclip the INFINITI emblem and snap the Nissan one in. Then you'll have the get the rear stuff, the door sill plates, steering wheel cover for the air bag. It'd look really awkward if only half the stuff was changed to Nissan and the rest left as INFINITI.
Don't forget the seats, (time for new leather) the clock, and the stereo.

This thread should be grafted into the 'DEFINE RICE' thread.

"Rice"= Neon to SRT-4 , 325i to M3

Non-"Rice"= Accord to Inspire , 350z to fairlady Z, G35 to Skyline 350gt

I think what it is, is that Fast and the Furious is a part of all the non-belivers that a G35 (USDM) is actually a Skyline (JDM)... GET OVER IT.. SAME MOTORS, SAME EVERYTHING... No turbos, no neons, its the same $hit

Except one is available as right hand drive and sold in only Japan, and the other is available as left hand drive and sold only in the US. A minor difference. (yeah right..)

If you 'rebadge' do it all, or you're as bad as the rest of the posers IMO. Making something 'represent' as all these rebadgers talk about can't stop at the exterior. There is no such thing as an Infiniti Skyline, and no such thing as a Nissan G35. May as well stick a Type-R badge back there while you're at it. LOL.

Seats, clock, stereo, steering wheel, wheel center caps, make sure you get it all. Don't know what you'll do about the VIN tag though. Just don't let your buddies see that and you'll be fine.

I don't dispute that the cars are of the same genes. No doubt about it. One is definitely an Infiniti though, and the other is a Nissan. Just check the VIN. You can call your car whatever you like, your registration will properly identify it no matter how hard you try to make it something else.

Pose on, brothers.

So, the VIN and the registration makes the car? That's a very narrow view of this issue. The fact is that right- and left-hand drive is not a big difference. If the entire world drove on the same side of the street that wouldn't even be an issue. The other fact is that Lexus, Acura, and Infiniti were created to get Americans to pay more for Japanese vehicles. It's a simply a marketing tool. Slap a new badge on a parent company car and the Americans believe it's luxury. There are still people out there to this day who have no idea that Infiniti and Nissan are the same company. The ploy works, and works well.

And the Fairlady Z and Skyline 350GT are most certainly not "only sold in Japan".

Riiiiiiiightt..... You make no sense...

An Integra and a Type-R integra, have TWO completely different motors..

Skyline 350GT and an Infiniti G35C are the SAME EXACT THING, except for different bading and suede inserts on the seats. PERIOD.

Actually, doesn't the 05 6MT model in America have an extra 18 hp as well? If i remember correctly, Japanese cars are limited to 280hp.

It's a matter of taste and opinion. I fall back to the original statement:

If you 'rebadge' do it all, or you're as bad as the rest of the posers IMO. Making something 'represent' as all these rebadgers talk about can't stop at the exterior. There is no such thing as an Infiniti Skyline, and no such thing as a Nissan G35 anywhere that I'm aware of. If you've discovered one (that wasn't created in a ricer's garage) please post a picture of it.

And yes, the VIN defines the car - go try to register your Infiniti G35 as a Skyline GT350 and report back on your success.

You can call it whatever you want - I just don't see the point.

And you are absolutely correct, I apologize.

I overstated while trying to make my point. They are available many other places - just not in the US - no matter how bad the 'rebadgers' want to make it so.

Interesting. I thought the parent company who designed the vehicle defined it, but okay...

Not busting you *****, Willikers. I know rebadging is personal preference. To me, the JDM and USDM models are the same car. Others don't see it that way and nothing's wrong with that.
