Best tint for Socal residents?

I'm about to get my car tinted and I was debating on what tint percentage I should get.. I want to get the same tint (%) all around. And it's illegal to tint the front windows here in California.. So I don't want to make it too dark to attract a lot of CHP officers's attention, and also making the car look a little nicer in some way. I was thinking 35%? My car is black. Any suggestions?

Also, does anyone have any recommendations for good tint shops in the 661/818, San Fernando Valley area?

Thanks,
Jeff

First of all,

if you need some tints you gotta head to Solar Eclipse...they are in woodland hills located on Victory and DeSoto...They are the BEST quality and prices, not to mention life time warranty on all their work. As far as percentage it's all about your preference, personally I would go 5% all around, and tint the windshield 49%...thats what I did, and I love it. But if your worried about a ticket, I think 20% should be cool, 35% is worthless. Goodluck and go to Solar Eclipse for sure

How much was your total for all 6 windows? I don't really know how dark 35% or whatever are.. I've never gotten tinted before. Maybe I'll go with 20% then.

I have a couple of friends who also used Solar, good work. 35% in not on the legal max but works perfectly well. I had, still have, 35% on my daily, and lived in Chatsworth for about 5 year before returning to the NW. 35% worked great. No hot steering wheel, big drop in interior temp, still llight enough to be able to see out of at night which is handy in the Valley.

You can't really tell in pictures. You have to see it in person..

Haha...I got mine done at the same place. I had them put HP 15 which is like 12% all around. Looks sick.

I live out in the Ontario area or the 909 for you locals. I did 15% on the back 3 and 35% on the fronts. Make sure you get ceramic tint instead of metallic. but those percentages look pretty classy and the main thing is that cops can see in your car pretty clearly.

Hey vstypicals, you could check out my ride, but I have blue tint all the way around. I live close to you (I think) Sylmar. Just email or pm. On my integra before, I had the lightest tint (don't know percentages) all the way around and never got a ticket for that. I just wanted to protect my interior, block the UV rays from burning me while driving, and most importantly have all the ladies see who is driving, lol

They did a really good job. I went with the best tint brand that they had so it cost me about $350.
