I got mine about 9 months ago.....x50 blue display. Worked great until last night, when i got a ticket doing 85 in a 60--it was a laser trap. Like most radar detector owners, I felt invincible with my x50 (always plenty of range, lots of warning), until I fell into a LIDAR trap. My detector went crazy saying that it had detected laser, which it had, but only as I was passing though the beam, and by then it was too late. Just a warning to other owners and the poster of this thread--just b/c you have the x50 doesn't mean you can beat LIDAR or instant-on radar.

The detector still worked great, it did exactly what everybody knows it would do. Don't blame the detector for that one.

 

I wasn't blaming it at all--I know exactly how LIDAR works and how it is virtually undetectable until you are right on top of it. I am extremelly happy with the x50, I was simply just shouting out a warning to other owners that there is laser and instant-on radar out there, so be careful.
