Well guys i jus got back from work (Best Buy) with a new Escort 8500 X50, im going to order the direct cord set up through them and have the guys in Mobile install everything for me. I was curious as to wu everyones set ups looked like, i searched and all the old pics are dead, so please post some new ones all you 8500 X50 owners. By the way they are on sale at Best Buy this week for 269 i believe.

You can get The Escort 8500 X50 in Blue or Red for less on Ebay. I have purchased many Item including my Escort Solo 2 there, just watch out for PPL selling item. Only Deal with POWER SELLERS

 

I got the red display. I didnt see any blue displays in stock, and im not sure if it is nationwide, thats wut it was at my store. I still have to order the damn direct wire kit, this coiled one is hidious.

 

i mounted mine on the rear view mirror.....pulled power from the mirror wires and did not have to run wires anywhere

You can buy a direct wire kit from best buy as well, its called a $1 phone cord Just buy an el-cheapo phone cord from best buy and use that, its the same thing you would get for like 50$ in the "hard wire kit". That is all I used and it works great, I just ran it along the headliner, down the A-pillar, and into the distribution box where I wired it into the fuse for the accessory power adapter. Total install cost me 0$ because I had a phone cord lying around. You dont actually need the little control box, you would probably never end up hitting anything on it anyways.

hye G.........if you look at post #6 in the thread i referenced describes the install.....it is simple so i didnt take any pics.........just 3 wires to choose from and you only use 2........and i give the color codes.......

I have talked to Escort and they do not honor warranties on X50's purchased on Ebay so you will be screwed if it goes into self-calibration mode and stops working like most Bel and Escort products do after a year or two of use.

 

I got a blue x50 for $265 cash new. If any one in the Bay Area needs 1...I can help you get one for that price too.
