Just checked my tire pressure....OH CRAP!

Just checked my tire pressure....OH CRAP!

All four tires were at 51 psi. I cant believe it . I was told tire pressure was checked as part of the pre-delivery inspection so never checked myself until now. I just passed break-in, so started checking everything before I start running it real hard. So lesson to you new ownerS, check your tire pressure, DO IT NOW!

WOo that flippin high i wonder what the burst pressure is and you r lucky you weren't in a 110 degree parking lot

Best thing you can do in the morning before driving off to somewhere is drop the TP to 35-36psi all around. Dealers tend to overinflate your tires, I've heard numbers like 38 but 51?? If you've really driven 1200 miles at 51psi, check your tires for premature wear...

Same thing happened to me when I picked the car @ the dealer. After about 2 weeks and 500 miles I checked the tire pressure and was 55 psi on all four wheels. I believe they over-inflate the tires during transportation to prevent flat spots.

DEaler doesn't check anything. Mine were at 45psi after I got home from delivery.

Yeah, just got my car last week. The psi was about 40. I lowered them to 35 as recommended. Also checked everything else on my G. Dealers don't know jack. Take care.

actaully, its not the dealer that does the predelivery inspection, its the technician working on it. I do PDI's every now and then, and they are supposed to check the pressure of the tires and what nots.. all the dealer does is have you sign the paperwork

you guys should be able to tell just from your ride quality if your pressure is too high
or too low.... 51psi would feel like bricks.

my salesman told me they are shipped with 50 from the factory. Before I left with the car he went around with a tire guage and let air out of each tire. He let too much out of one of them. When I got down the road a bit the tire pressure monitor went off. I had to go back and get air put back in one of the rears. Atleast I know the sensors work.

$35k car needs a $7.95 Wally World digital pressure guage and $15 bicylce pump to keep the pressure within 1-2 psi of where you want it.

Yup. I roll with one of those digital tire pressure checkers. I think they are like 8 bucks at Wal-mart. Very handy. It's very important for me to stay on top of my tire pressure as I have 35/30 series.

Once when i pulled out a nail from my tire and the mechanic had put 45 psi rather than 35. i pull off and the tire pressure light was on. What i am wondering is why it wasnt on in your case with 51??
