Tint question...
How come I see cars with tints that are 'pure black' and some are 'greenish black'? Is the latter because they just tint over the 'stock' 95% light green tint designed to block UV rays? ..or is this all in the type of tint you choose?
I want the 'pure black' (no I don't mean getting 1% tint) ..It's the color. Any info?
Thanks in advance.

I'm sort of watching this one. The local shops tend to use tint with a high metal content for better heat protection (summers run around 110), but that tint has a slight mirrored effect that robs it of that black-tint look.
I'd love to find something that works great but is a true-black look. I need it to go with an IP with Bat's 6/10 GTR 2 overlays.

Tint
Had the same dilemma. All the tintes I've seen looked greenish. There are different kind tints and darkness play a part too. My 20% came out pretty black. I'm happy with the results. I don't have any more info, on what tint they used sorry.

I own an 04' coupe...I origianlly had my ride tinted with 35% on all windows and noticed the tint looked a little green...the tinter said there was nothing I could do about it because infiniti and nissan factory windows use tinted glass....so two months later I went with 20% and alas you cannot see the greenish color...it's a nice smoked grey like I want
There is a difference between a lot of tint brands, its all in the brands they use. Many places use tint that has a grey-green look, b/c it gives a neutral, truer color representation (similar to RayBan sunglass lenses). And then there are brands that have a true grey tint (similar to Oakley's grey lens).
I had this problem when tinting my Nissan Murano. OEM rear windows are already tinted, so it was hard to find a match on the fronts. The first time, it was a grey-green. And then my tint guy went with a different film, I think he said Johnson-something, and it matched Nissan OEM perfectly.
(Sorry for the sunglass references, but I was in the optical business for 10 years!)
Here is my G with 15% on the back three windows, 20% on the front two, and 50% on the windshield. It was a hot sunny day in the pics and still looks pretty black. I actually prefer the neutral grey-green for vision purposes. And if you are going 20% or darker, it will still look black. If you go with 35% or so, you will notice the green more.

Go with Formula One - you won't be sorry.
Also, the greenish-tints are usually because the materials are non-metallic.
Metal tints have a tendency to interfere with AM radio signals, some cell phones and even V1 sometimes.
