Cracked windshield
Cracked windshield
So I got a nice rock to fly into my winshield this weekend and just found the L shaped crack behind my rearview mirror.
So does anyone know if the windshield for a 05 coupe with the homelink is different from one without? Gotta get this replaced soon.
TIA

I don't think so - but I was trying to make sure. And if there is only 1 part # then it would seem that the answer is no.
You may be able to repair it without replacing the windshield depending on how big it is. I would give these people a call: http://www.safelite.com. If they can fix it and you have comprehensive coverage it's free to you. If they need to replace it they can probably get you a better price on a comparable windshield. I would just make sure it has the tinted part at the top like the factory one has.

Hey I got a scratch on my windheild when my windsheild wiper rubber fell off. I brought it to this guy and he got it right out! But it was only hairline.. if anything is more than fingernail deep, its not repairable.
Some info that you might be pleased to hear, is that mostly all insurance companies will either replace your windsheild for free, or a small deductable. Give your insurance company a call.

Many insurance companies will waive the deductible for glass repair. Replacement usually still requires a deductible. There are, however, some companies that offer $0 deductible for glass only damages on policies. Most I have seen have been outside of California so I can not comment to it's frequency outside of my state. Of the 10,000+ claims I've handled, I've only seen $0 glass deductibles on a handful of policies. I do see plenty of out of state policies in the claims I handle as a lot of people tend to like to visit California. My observations would suggest that these policies are out there, but definitely not a majority.
good call on Safelite. I was driving to Phoenix this weekend and cracked my windshield like 12 inches long... nasty stuff... Also some ****face in a suburban opened his door into my driver's side door leaving a huge scratch/gash. REAL NICE...
Anyways... Safelite is charging me $350 out the door to completely replace the windshield and that includes parts, labour and the trim around the window too!! I confirmed the windshield has the shade at the top like the OEM one so its cool. I think $350 is a darn good price. I was bracing myself for $1000 at least.
Thanks Amp!!!! you ****in' rule dog.
