Rice Rice Baby
Hey... anyone seen the new Honda Civic commercial? They are capitalizing on 2 fast 2 furious I guess, but it is a bunch of super riced our civics cruising in a huge pack. Why bother spending the money on those POS vehicles? Can anyone tell me!?!?!?!

Re: Rice Rice Baby
Main reason is because it very CHEAP to fix up a civic. Plus a Civic is a cheap car to begin with and good MPG. I can get a full T3/T4 turbo kit for a little over 1000 bucks! If I owned a 99'~00 Si Civic and had 5K~7K to spend on it (myself doing all the labor), it would be pretty quick, probably hang with Z06s on the 1/4mi. Therefore, 13K for the car plus 7K in upgrades = 20K car that can get between 12~13secs on the 1/4mi. Not bad for a fixed up Econo car.
I had a friend who owned a Geo Metro, we put the thing on the bottle and it squeeled like a pig! Still slow as hell though, couldn't even beat a stock Civic Si hehehe. Shows that not all econo cars can do it with NAWZ....
- Don't argue with idiots. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.=P-

Stop and think about that for a second. Do you really want those guys in the "fixed up" Civics buying G's instead? Of course not.
The Civic, like the dung beetle, serves an important purpose: to encourage society's undesirable elements to voluntarily badge themselves with Scarlet Letter "R"s, so that we may identify them from a distance and pre-emptively spurn their comraderie as a matter of course.
Do not interfere with the natural order. If it wasn't for ricey Civics, who would we have left to make fun of?

I hate to say it, but I once owned a fixed up civic. Of course I regret it, but as a teen it's an affordable car. I do view them as a kids car. They keep running no matter what you do to them.
Now I have a little honda XR50 dirt bike and it reminds me a lof of the civic. Same honda technology went into both.

JDman... true. Let 'em have their chivicks. I won't encourage them.
Pretty clever advertising to market it to the younger crowd though. Trying to push a "cool" image.

My 2 cents, I can respect the "real" people out there who do spend like 5K - 10K making their Civics truly souped up. Guys who make cars that could (unfortunately) dust our Gs. The thing I have absolutely no respect for is the wanna-bes in my area (Baltimore, MD) who put some lights, some rims, a coffee can muffler, no engine mods, and heavy bass...LOTS of heavy bass and think that they're fast. That's what pisses me off.
If you want to truly trick out a Civic and do it right, more power to you. If you want cosmetics, I hear Lancome is hiring.

I agree. I actually think that 2000 civic si is a nice looking car. Keep it clean, and not all riced out and I respect that car. Not everyone can afford nicer cars, and a lot of kids work hard to pay for an si. They deserve just as much respect for that as someone who works towards a G.

Re: Rice Rice Baby
This is a tough crowd. I am trying to add a G35 Coupe to the stable, but my wife doesn’t want another car payment, so I’m stuck w/our “paid for” Civic for now. Besides, the Civic has 4 doors (baby on the way) and other than the periodic changing of oil and brakes (cross-drilled rotors and carbon fiber of course), the car is a rock as far as reliability goes, so hers is the logical argument. Although I am not a rice boy by any stretch of the means, I can’t take the low power output of the car anymore and am looking at putting on a supercharger. I’m not looking to race people, but I feel the need to be able to out accelerate the soccer moms in their murderous SUV’s. Yes, the car will thump if the stereo is turned up, but aftermarket stereos clearly make kick butt over stock ones and your car more livable on the daily commute. So until the wife comes around, the Civic stays. Just remember, not everyone in a souped up Civic is a rice boy. Some of us just have a need for speed.

Hey Banatoman, I guess you're the cool kid on the block since you own a G.
WTF is the point of your stupid *** thread anyways, to cut down on those people who can't afford G's or maybe don't even want G's? Dude your G does not put you in a elite category, it's just a $30K car man. What do you think this car is a Ferrari? Shiet it ain't even a freakin Benz! Just because I own a G, I'm not going to disrespect all those who own Civics, even the "riced" out ones.

Re: Rice Rice Baby
Your right... its not a Benz. We can be thankful for something! Benz are nice looking, but Chrysler must have got thier quality control department in the merger! My clients who have MBs, Oh man I would never put up with that much trouble out of a car so $$$
Re: Rice Rice Baby
I agree djgcue. I'm not sure where all the hostility to the "riced" up cars comes from. Maybe when they were young they couldn't mod their car and were jealous of the people who did.
Fact is that the mods these guys are doing to their cars makes it their own. No other like it out there. I don't know about the rest of you, but I like that idea. I will continue to look for "cosmetic" mods to my car and pick the ones that I think stay true to the clean look I'm after. I'm amazed that on a site where most of the users are looking to customize their cars in some way that you find this many haters. The only thing separating us from them is a little disposable income.
