Homelink issues

Hey fellas,
I can't seem to get my Homelink to open my garage. I followed the instructions exactly as it said. I pushed the two buttons until it flashed. quickly pressed the "learn" button on my garage unit and then held firmly the button that i wanted it to be on.....nothing. it wouldn't work. why is that? does anyone have any issues like this?

Your garage door system may be using a "rolling code" which may not allow your homelink system to open the door.

The rolling code is a safety feature which keeps people from being able to copy the code which opens your door.

Check with the manufacterer of your garage door opener. This may be the case.

I know about this issue, because I ran into it while trying to program my office garage door into my homelink.

yeah, i read about the rolling thing but the actual garage unit has a "learn" button that should allow it to do it. The garage manufactuar is Overhead Door. I dunno what the prob is. I hope its not the car.

Fooboy, I just got my G last week and I thought I had a problem too. I finally got it to work.
Step 1: Clear the Codes like you did on the Homelink in the G

Step 2: Use a Remote that came with the Garage Door and sync it with the one of the 3 buttons on the Homelink (Holding the button on the remote and the Homelink at the same time until it learns it)

Step3: Then click the Learn Button on the Garage Unit and within 30 seconds, program the same button on the Homelink and PRESTO.

Hope that helps.

I have rolling code openers and mine works, with one problem? I have programmed them seperately (I have two garage doors), but for some weird reason, the main button opens and closes both doors at the same time? I can open and close the little door on its own with one button, but if I open or close the big door with the other button, it actuates both doors? I have re-programmed them numerous time and logic says it is impossible as they are "rolling code" openers? Anyone had this problem?

PS: Fooboy: I am not trying to jack your thread......just seemed appropriate.

I have rolling code Garage doors (3 Car Garage) and mine works fine. First step is to clear the default codes in your G. Second is to have your garage door in learing mode. I believe your Garage manual has that procedure.

I had to have my Wife help me, it definately is a two person job. If I remember right, I had to press the learing button on the Garage opener, once it started to flicker, my wife held down the desired homelink button.

Good Luck

I didn't seem to have any problems with mine.... maybe you didnt hold down the button long enough for the garage to open. My garage doesn't open for a few seconds sometime

I learned only yesterday about the "learn" step necessary on the motor unit. Worked just fine for me after two attempts, however, my wife's car which also has homelink won't work at all no matter how many times I retry the Learn function.

At least the G works!!

Mine had a similar problem and ended up being a defective homelink, got it replaced under warranty. I could not program mine and I verified with 3 different openers/batteries to be sure though.

Same problem here. I found out that mine won't work with Wayne Dalton brand openers because all three of my doors have the same antennas Wayne Dalton told me that I have to buy a converter/ splitter for it to work. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that! I will see if I can change the channels on mine? I have Chamberlain openers, one newer than the other by about 2 years.
