Problem filling up at gas station

Since I got my G, I've been having issues when filling up at the station, and now it's driving me nuts :-/

I always drive to an (almost) empty tank, when the gas light comes up that is.

Everytime I then went to a station after driving my 370 miles or so, I've never been able to refill a full tank in one shot. For some reason, it *always* stops half tank, and will not allow me to put any more gas.
Then I drive few miles, go to the station again, and I am able to put an extra 10 gallons or so.

Last time, I even tried 5 different station, hoping it was a problem with the pump or something like that, but it didn't make any difference.

Anyone ever had the same issue ? Please teach me how to pump gas ? ;-)

Hey, I only get like 280 miles per tank. And it only lets me fill up the tank with like 14-15 gallons...but I thought it was a 20 gallon tank???? I have an 03.5 Could there be a problem?

there was a TSB about '03's that wouldn't fill. likely the same or similar problem. did you check to see if your Trunk Monkey had better luck filling it than you? ;-)

Hmmm ... I must have been cheated, my TM can only take care of cops who pull me over, he doesn't want to refill !
Any place where I can exchange it ?

;-)

wow, this sounds like a serious issue. i haven't encountered it yet (knock on wood). I have no clue for a remedy to the situation. Have you talked to your dealership yet about this?

It's not your car, it's WHEN you pump the gas. At most gas stations, the pumps are designed with a two way opening, one that releases the gas and the other that sucks up the vapor. If you have an empty tank, it is filled with mostly vapor. The pump will stop because there is more vapor going into the nozzle than gas. I think it's cuz of the pressure or sumthing. There should be an even flow of gas release and vapor suction. How to prevent that?...Fill up when you're around a 1/4 below empty.

i think i know what the problem is....this usually occurs when people usually fill up at a Cheveron, i had the same problem...just try to hold the nozzle a little higher and it should fill up fine, and about it filling up only like 15 or 16 gallons, thats because we have like a 4 or 5 gallon reserve tank...and the 20 gallon tank that we have is based off of that...so basically when you hit the E; you have like 4 gallons on gas left....anyone correct me if im wrong!!!

I recently had that same problem when filling around 240ish miles on my 05 coupe....i was only able to get 15 gallons...a lil more than half tank....I was at a Shell......

Should i just try filling again now or just wait till 1/4 tank?....

I've had this problem twice with my 05. Both times it was at the same gas station. I think it was a problem with their pumps. When I've gone to other gas stations I haven't had a problem.

I've had no problems like this with my 05, and I've filled up with as many as 17-18 gallons.
