Stuck in 6th. gear, taken to dealer on flatbed...

I was out riding late last night, went to the car wash, sprayed then hand washed and dried my G... Got on the freeway and was challenged by an 03-04 Mustang GT; smoked the Mustang 3 times from around 60 on...

Anyway, after he pulled off I drove to an exit to head back home but the stick was "STUCK", yeah, stuck in 6th. gear... The clucth was enagaging but as hard as I could push, it would not budge... I tried to stay in 6th. to pull away after the stop I had to make but there was no way without smoking the clucth so i parked there.

I pulled out the card in my wallet, called Infiniti, had a flatbed there in 15 minutes (was impressed by that!) The flatbed driver gave me a ride home and was gone with my G... I was so upset I hardly slept...

Got a call from the dealer at 8AM telling me they were putting my car on the rack and will be calling me back as soon as the tech can determine if this will be a quick fix or something more.

I am home awaiting the call and will keep you all posted.

I imagine that would be a warranty repair. If they say it's not, you should definitely force the issue to get them to cover it.... but I doubt it will come to that.

Good luck, and keep us updated with the details.

The service manager called me today and said Infiniti approved the latest version new transmission as a replacement; he also said they wanted my core to find out exactly what the problem is...

Also, got a nice white 5AT sedan loaner that is surely a cruiser, but I miss the mileage my 6MT gets.

There is no linkage on our transmissions, the shifter goes straight in and connects to shift rods that are permanent parts mounted in the case; this is no toy transmission...

Thanks for the "Good luck" shout out, check this out;
This is a generic 6 speed RWD transmission (notice the shifter mounts in the case)... This is not a Nissan product, just a similar design:

This is a FWD transmission (just happens to be a Honda):
http://laodice.no-ip.org/6spd_honda_frw.jpg

This is one of the cables that connects that FWD transmission to the linkage mounted to the shifter in the car:

Some people say Honda transmissions are so smooth... The reason is, you cant feel the engine, transmission or much of anything else through those cables.

NISMO ROCKS
