High Idle

I have noticed that my car runs in a high idle of about 1600-1700 RPM's in the morning when i start the car and go to work. It only last for a few minutes but it only does it in the morning. Is this normal?

Yes, your car is just warming up. Happens to all cars when we first start on a cold engine.

it's to lower the emissions given off at a cold start. It burns the excess hydrocarbons coming out of your exhaust pipes.

Ditto. It's in cold-start running mode, which helps heat/light-off the cats faster.

just wondering, after a good amount of driving what RPM's are your idles?

without AC, just engine running @ 600 RPM's,
with AC, 750-800 RPM's, sometimes dips down to 650.

The high idle should only last for a few seconds until it starts to decline. Until the engine is warm, the idle will stay somewhere around 900-1k but not for long.
