thanks everyone for such a warm welcome and the compliment on my shoes( gotta love those dockers). anyways, i have figured out the catch point and have been driving around my neighborhood every few hours. i plan on doing very small mods and most of them will be nismo since they dont void the warranty when professionally installed. i will start with struts and sway bars, then i will probably get a z tube, cai, rebadge, fuji exhaust. not necces. in that order but u get the idea. i found a cool website that sold me on the fuji exhaust and has a lot of good info. its prob. a repost but whatever.

Hahahha trust me everyone has gone through this, no need to feel intimidated. Whatever you do, DON'T get frustrated, don't rush it, and don't let yourself think you're hurting the car! Like the rest said, go to a parking lot, put it in 1st and slooooowly let out the clutch without giving it any gas. That'll help you learn the engagement point and you'll be able to get to that point much faster and without stalling when you take off. The way I do it, when I have a green light I let out the clutch halfway and rev it up to 1k-1.5k RPM while slowly letting the clutch all the way out and the car starts rolling. At that point, start giving it a little more gas and you're all set. Be careful to not overrev it and ride the clutch though.

Congrats on your new ride. My last 5 cars were all manual Transmissions. My '05 G's 1st gear engagement is sooo much different the the other Japanese and German products, which I have owned.

You'll get it down very soon. My brother's '04 is closer to what I am accustomed to. The '05 G clutch has a very high travel point. Almost to the very end of travel. Just remember . . . ease the clutch pedal out smoothly and apply gas for normal 1st gear engagement. As for launching . . . Hehehe . . . You'll figure that out even quicker . . . LOL.

Enjoy! . . .

Congrats on the new car. She is a beauty. That first gear is a bugger. I have been driving it for a while and the first gear is just a tad tricky.

yeah, i think ive got it tho. now when im about to go at a traffic light i just let the clutch reach the catch point while my foot is still on the brake and once its caught i let the brake go and slowly give it gas while at the same time releasing the clutch. it just takes time for the ol left foot to get used to it.

Yup, this is the best way to start.

Also the best thing to do on a hill for beginners IMO.. If you lift the clutch to the engagement point while on the brake, then release the brake the car won't roll back (unless it's a really big hill) also! Just a little tip incase you havent figured that one out yet.
