Clutch Burning

I think I am burning my clutch every time I push the car to 5-6 K. I get this smell, mixture of coolant and rubbery smell.Only if it is above 5K but it is every single time.I even wrote about it few months ago and then started observing my shifting habits.
I have driven stick shift all my life without any problems and I can not determine what I am doing wrong.Do you have any suggestions?I have 12.000 miles on it.Thank you.

Same here.. i've noticed that ever since i pushed it hard enough after break-in. i'm at 6600 miles and my clutch is now out. i dropped it off at the dealership this afternoon and they're trying to tell me that i have to pay 1850 + tax!

anyone out there have suggestions for a good aftermarket clutch?

Re: Cluth

koochiekrook, you're clutch is already out?!?!?! Doesn't powertrain warranty cover this? It should.

Tell the service manager that unless he can prove that there was clutch abuse, Infiniti is compelled to replace the clutch at no charge to you. BTW did you by chance adjust the height of your clutch pedal? When the mechanic takes the clutch apart it's easy enough to determine the root cause of your problem. Please keep us informed with your negotiations with the dealer.

i dont' get the burning cluctch smell anymore really, but after breakin, when i was running it hard, the clutch did smell for a few thousand miles. But then again, it's also easy to run this clutch as it catches so high, if you're not used to it, and your gunning before the real engagement point.

I'm still in break in (~ 500 miles) and last night I ran her real hard. I've been smelling clutch all day. Any suggestions on ways to get rid of the smell?

P.S. My name is Kareem and I'm excited that I found this forum.

Best,
KJS
