I want to get a heads up screen in my G35C, but I dont' want the whole nav system... is it possible just to buy JUST the G35C headsup unit from Infiniti (or aftermarket???)? How much will it cost?

 

The nav screen also integrates the nav controls, so the answer is no, you can't buy it separately. In fact, the dealer won't install a nav system post factory, so you're really sh*t out of luck!

However, I've seen an install where the door covers a motorized unit. I'm working on a less complex install with a screen that will be manually operated and will ride on tracks that comes up out of the dash, but the size of the screens is the only problem right now. Its a 7" wide spot, so you can't go for a larger screen, unless it tracks out of the pocket, then rotates into position. Those are 2 ideas for you to ponder in place of the stock nav screen.

where did you see the motorized unit you mentioned in the 1st sentence of ur paragraph 2?

 

Unless you have your heart set on a big screen, take a look at the Garmin StreetPilot as an option. They have a $100 rebate this month, so you would save $1,330 over the $2K factory unit. Here is a link to their web site, and the second is pictures of my StreetPilot install in a G35c. It fits in the pit where the factory NAV would have gone if that was ordered. This is my 3rd Street Pilot, so I am pretty familiar with them. IMHO they are superior to the factory units for several important reasons. If you are knowledgeable about computers, the StreetPilot is flash ROM upgradable, the factory unit is not. Secondly, they are portable, so you can place them in another vehicle, such as a temporary vehicle if yours is being serviced, or a rental car. Take a look at these links.

thanx for the fast response, but i was actually looking for a monitor to hook up to a DVD player haha... I don't really need the Navigation system... i just want the monitor and a DVD player... thanks tho... hopefully someone can find good use for those links!!
