i'm pretty happy with the Bose ones. Dunno about the stock speakers. I'm sure they're ok. If you want the boom boom with the tweet then go to crutchfield and upgrade.

i'm sorry, but i have to say this: BOSE sucks. well, ok, depending on what you listen to. if you listen to vocals or classical or even soft rock, BOSE rocks. but if you listen to hard rock, or god forbid - TECHNO (or trance or goa or psy or electronica or anything like that) - BOSE is not the choice for you.

i have non-bose car, and drove a loaner with bose, and i hated it! it sounds like someone took crappy speakers and put pillows over them. way too much bass. way not enough treble. muffled mid-range. hate it hate it hate it. besides, upgrading a non-bose system is a lot easier than upgrading bose system.

Take a couple CD's into the dealership and ask to demo both base and Bose stereos.

PREMIUM system:
(for coupe and sedan)
Clarion HU
*Nissan* stock front 6.5" separates with ~1" tweets
*Nissan* stock backseat side panel 6.5" coaxials
~245W BOSE amp in the trunk
BOSE 6x9" "subs" on the rear shelf

"NON" PREMIUM aka NON-BOSE
(for coupe and sedan)
Clarion HU
Stock *Nissan* 6.5" separates with 1" tweets
Stock *Nissan* backseat 6.5" coaxials

If you look at the stock Nissan speakers, they are very shallow with small refirgerator magnets. Everyone knows that they are of poor quality and the most limiting factor in the whole sound system. Again, the only differences between the Premium and non-Premium systems are the addition of BOSE brand 6x9"s on the rear shelf and the BOSE brand amp in the trunk next to the spare tire on the left under the plastic panel.

The Bose speakers suck but the premium package is definately worth it. As mentioned above, for some reason, the non-Bose speakers sound better than the Bose speakers. Speakers are simple to replace but something like homelink and dual climate control is harder to add later on. If money isn't a serious issue, I would go with the premium package.

The right terminology for better understanding and less confusion for everyone should be:

PREMIUM aka Bose system

OR USE

BASE or nonPREMIUM or non-Bose system

There isn't a normal Bose and an upgraded Bose system....

BOSE in the acronym that Audiophiles use:

Buy Other Stereo Equipment!! lol

To the average listener, they rock! To the trained ear... it's sounds like a speaker with a pillow as a grill. The thing is, does it really matter THAT much when you're driving on the road with so much ambient noise from the roads, cars, etc??

I'd rather spend that money on my Home Audio system where I can close my eyes and hear the acoustic differences (without ambient noises) anyday.
