AMSOIL!!!!

Ok, so I have been a religous user of Mobil one products ever since I could drive. But I have been hearing alot of hype @ work about amsoil. I did alot of research on it and turns out amsoil beats out mobil one in all catagories. I guess so, amsoil did invent synthetic oils back in WWII. Anyways, I went with amsoil this time (1700miles) and W.O.W. what a difference!!! Engine is so much smother, engine idle dropped about 200 rpm, gas miledge went up, more power.........definitaly feels better than mobil one. I'm not knocking mobile one, god knows I've bought about 200 quarts of it, still wonderful oil, BUT Amsoil deffinitally earned a new customer this time. It is very much worth the couple of extra dollars. I would recommend it........only problem is it is a pain in the asspirin to get..........kinda like zaino...MASTERSR6

Yea, I've heard lots of good things about Amsoil and no complaints, too bad they don’t market Amsoil as well as Mobil does.

Re: AMSOIL!!!!

I thought it was...........but it isn't. I went to an amsoil distributor here in Va to get it. The retarded thing is
you have to know someone who sells the stuff. You can't just go in there and buy it. Luckily
I work with a guy that sells it. Anyways, it was $4.75 a
quart. And that is for the 25k oil.........they say all's you
have to do is change the filter every 8k. I will not be going
that long on the same oil change, but I guess they engineered it to really last that long..........unbelieveble!!!
So really it is much cheaper than mobil one considering
all those extra oil changes you will be doing. Like I said
before, I have ALWAYS used mobil one in EVERYTHING I've
owned, love the stuff. But I will be using Amsoil from now
on...........just feels better, Give it a try

Re: AMSOIL!!!!

ok, i have very limited hands-on experience with changing oil myself....but, when you unscrew the filter, doesnt the oil start to drain out???? or at least some of it, around 0.4 qt's worth in the G?

Re: AMSOIL!!!!

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the oil draining in the G. But from my experience the G was the easiest oil change I've ever done. There is one pain in the *** thing you have to do. You have to remove the plastic underplate that protects the bottom of the engine, around 20 screws. But after you do that it's easy. The drain plug is located in a very convienient spot and right next to it is the oil filter. BTW, have any of you all changed your oil???..........whats up with that little oil filter, my R6 takes one bigger than that. You'll have to go to your local auto parts store and buy a filter wrence...........those things are so cool. So whatever you mean Rambo, no, no oil even touches the car. Very clean and easy process. Hope this helps.......... MASTERSR6

Re: AMSOIL!!!!

Well, yes I probably could've done it that away, but I just did it by the book for fear of something going wrong, per say oil dripping all over the inside of the underplate. But most of all I wanted to remove it so I could get a good look at what the engine was all about......................next time I probably will only remove the 3 screws you are talking about.................

Re: AMSOIL!!!!

Yeah you probably should........I like to do it myself so I can see what's going on inside my engine. To see how well your engine is braking in. Try changing it yourself the first time. Put some good oil in it. If you go get yourself a nice, new, clean oil pan, drain the oil into it, let it sit for a while and put your finger in it and swirl giving it the effect of a whirlpool. You will be suprised of what comes up and what you see. If everything is going good, you'll see a gold, bronze color floating in your oil. It's a good method of seeing just what's going on inside there....

Amsoil is available online at:

There is also lots of interesting information about it and oils and additives in general.
