I have that problem on my '03. A lot of ivory pearl coupes have this problem. It's hard to match the color on metal and plastic.

mine wasn't really a miss-match, but you can always apply a few coats of zaino to shine the **** out of the car and make it less noticeable.

Pearl

My rear bumper is shiny but not glossy like glass, as the rest of the car. I'm suspecting my rear was repainted. And I noticed a minimal gap difference on one side of the trunk lid from the other. Did anyone noticed that?

I always thought it was just the angle of light... Someone once told me it was b/c of the material, too. I never believed that, b/c shouldn't the white pain fully cover the primer and body material anyways? Maybe someone in the body shop biz can clarify...

About it being flush.. well, I think my surfaces are fully flush (before and after some bodywork), and color shouldn't make a difference in that.

I'm not seeing a problem with 1 side of the trunk gap being bigger than the other - that sounds like either work or damage was done. good luck...

Mine is good to go! I actually had heard about that problem with the Z32s, so I checked mine out real hard before I told them that was the one I want.

I think the changing of the paint color on plastic also happens over time, but I'm not sure.

I've never noticed it on mine. I'm REALLY picky too. I wonder if it is just what plant they are made at. Also.. I had a Pikes Peak white 350Z with no problem either. hmmm :s

Reason why paint dont match on the bumper VS body.....

first of, when your car gets painted at the factory, they paint the car on an assembly line. The bumper and other parts such as spoilers also get painted apart from the car. WHen this happens, they use HUGE batches of paint. A lot of times what happens is that the paint has metal flakes that sometimes travel to the bottom of the drums even though the drums are constantly being stired, it can still happen. Thats why when you paint something from the top of the drum will always be different then the bottom, or for that matter from a different batch.

Another reason being is that some colors are hard to match up... such as metalic colors. Especially silver, white and red.

My front looks identical to the hood and body, but my rear is almost yellowish and darker.... its almost as its flat white vs ivory. Seems like not enough metal flakes. My spoiler is the same way. It matches the bumper a lot more then it does the trunk.
just gotta live with it i guess
