2005 AT Tranny crapped out!

Just wanted to share my bad experience.

Got my 2005 end of april and barely drove it too. Come June 1st i had to go down to Tulsa, OK for a race and since the car only had 671 miles on it, I'd figure i will do most of the break in on the way down there (1,300 miles) Well made into Tulsa ... tranny gave out. Had no gears... it would jerk .. then go into some gear then not give me any other gears.

Check engine light came on / Service engine soon light came on and AT light blinkig like ****. Well got it to the dealer and they stated that a number of 2005 cars had AT issues and i wasnt the first.

After 4 days at the dealer they traced the problem back to internals on the tranny and said that some valves and electronics just gave out. There was a lot of metal shaving in the tranny and it cause it to give out.

I"m not sure why there should be A LOT of shaving in there in a first place, considering i never really floored it or beat the crap out of it. But ever since the fix.. the car hasnt been the same. My 03 now feels way faster and pushes me more into my seat then 05.

Anyone else had any issues?

I had no sign of any trouble at all. After i got the car i put on 671 miles city driving... nothing special... just normal driving. But the rest 1300 miles were all highway.... 75mph avg. (110mph for a few seconds on open road, at like 1100 miles on odometer)
Then while exiting toll booth... thats when it gave out. I didnt even floor it... just let the gas off coasted and taped it to get it going. AND BAM.

Dealer said it was not the first time. But i'm going to take it to my dealer to have them look at it again.

sorry to hear that... on a new car, I would pull all the stops out and DEMAND a new tranny...nothing rebuilt. If that's to no avail, try another dealership or just make some calls to infiniti headquarters and demand it... either way good luck.

A rare issue. Give the new one some time to break in and you should be as fast as your '03.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having troubles. I do beleive that this is the first tranny issue that I have ever heard of in any AT G. My dealer told me that he has yet to have replaced or repaired any AT trannies in the G.

Infiniti of Raleigh sure lied to you!! A few months back my tranny blipped and the SES light popped up and the car was running like crap. When i took it there, Chris said that they'll check it out and get back to me. Well a day later they called and said that the Transmission control valve inside the tranny burned out. Changed it out for me, and its been driving the same ever since. I guess it was just an electrical issue, not an entire tranny.
