I hate rock chips

I just bought last week, and I figured if I stayed off people's bumpers, I wouldn't get any stone chips on the bumper. But, lo and behold, I have a few after only a week of driving. I'm not getting a clear bra, so I guess I'll just have to live with them. Do any of you ever look at nicer cars (Porsches, Ferraris, Bimmers) and look for the chips to make you feel better?

Yes I have them too, and yes I look.

I'm over it.

I'm putting a few bucks away so in 3-4 years I can repaint the front bumper. Mine looks terrible. 80% of my driving is highway doing 75 mph in heavy traffic.

I have the clear bra that was on my car when I bought it but... it dosen't have anything to protect the bumper, just the hood and front of fenders. Does somebody actally make one that fits our bumper?

Seems odd that you would have the hood and fenders protected and not the bumper. Is it possible that ther is a clear bra on the bumper and you just can't see it (mine is extermely hard to see unless you look around the corner of the bumper where the corner lights are). And yes, you can buy just the bumper portion.

My friend's dad has a Shelby Series 1. It has only 3,000 miles and it is riddled with chips. It makes me cry when I see that

It dosen't have one for sure. I thought the same because it has the stuff all over the car, inside the door handles, gas, lid mirrors, etc. But not on the most venerable part of the car. Thanks for the info.

Sorry to hear about evryones' paint chips. If it's not too late, perhaps the clear bra app is still within reason? It's posts, such as these, which helped me decide on getting a clear bra type product installed on my G.

yeah the clear bra has kept me Rock chip free for almost 2 years now! Unfortunately, the "full wrap" clear bra I got did not cover 2 small areas on the plastic area lower bumper area. If you go for a clear bra, make SURE they do that area too!

just pony up the $500 now for the clear bra, I am glad I did. The $500 should cover the whole bumper, front 1/4 or hood, mirrors and door edges. I had it done last week, 3 days after buying my new G35X. We didnt drive it at all until we had that done. Now - no worries about chips ever. I do have to wax it though. Dont get it through the dealer though - they will hose you. Go to 3m.com for a list of certified installers. They are the ones who do it for the dealers anyway. My guy did it for all the dealers in the area. Except the dealers charge anyware from 900-1500 depending on what dealer it is - all for the exact same thing I got. Greedy bastards.

I got plenty of them too. If you don't buy the Clear Bra when you pick up the car - forget it, it's too late. It doesn't matter if you drive close to another car or not - you will get rock chips. I had gravel/sand trucks in So. Calif. I really believe the Infiniti & Nissan paint just sucks.

I owned a Porsche Boxster S for 4 years without any rock chips.
