When you start adding slicks and running at the drag strip... you might want to have an alternate method of getting your car home...

Exactly, I want to know how fast he could go...STREET LEGAL. Slicks in my mind is like nitrous, it's not really a good indication of what the car itself can do. If you can't legally reproduce it on the street, who cares what you can do at the track!

 

No his 1/4 would not be better. R/T is just the time it takes you to trip the timer after the tree turns green! BTW his 60 ft. time is amazing for a RWD car. I use to pull 1.7's in my WRX , but that is w/ AWD. And for every 1/10 in the 60 FT. you drop 2/10 in the 1/4.

 

Maybe he doesn't take this car on the steet. Or maybe he want's to race his street car even if it's slower on the street. Obviously his car is a monster with street tires anyway and only gets better when he really want to enjoy his sport - drag racing...why should we care.

If you like soccer does anyone ask you, "why do like soccer?" or say ,"who cares." It's a sport and some get it and like it...some just don't. Besides the only safe place to enjoy a fine machine like that is on the track.

My point was that once you start adding slicks and launching a car hard, you start breaking things... wheel studs... axles... rear ends... clutches... connecting rods... and then you can't drive the car home.

Right, so with an amazing for a street tire 60 ft. of 1.9, his 1/4 time would have been 13.5. Fast, but hardly a "monster". We can near that with a lot of bolt-ons. I'm not saying he can't enjoy it as a sport, just that the times are not that incredible since he was on slicks. It's fine for the sport of drag racing, but almost like cheating when comparing times. The car itself is no faster than a mid-13's car when it's streetable. If it's that amazing to you, then be amazed by our bone stock G coupes that run low-mid 13's bone stock......when they're on slicks.

 

OK since a near 120 mph 1/4 mile is so easy to attain with simple traction from some hoosiers..why don't you guys just show us how it's done...twiddling thumbs...been waiting for 3 years LOL

 

I'm going to agree. ^^^^ It's not that easy to accomplish what he did on slicks. Obviuosly this boy knows how to drive. I mean I hear plenty of stories of guys here w/ stock G's beating up on Evo's, STi's, and SRT 4's, and stock for stock that should never happen! So there must me alot of great G Street Racers on this Forum... Or the fact that some people have cars w/ potential, but don't know how to drive them.

try low 13's

 

A better launch doesn't net you as much an increase in the trap speed, if at all. In fact, in many cases, you can end up with a lower trap speed with a lower E.T. with a better launch. Generally, trap speeds are the best indicator of HP to weight ratios. E.T.s can vary much more.

 

Exactly - traction only gets you so much; it's HORSEPOWER that gets you moving and is best demonstrated with the trap speed #.

 

...which is why my trap speed on 5 runs were all within .5 mph while my 60's were all over the place and varied from 2.28 to 2.9 yesterday.

 

Every time I see one of your posts I enjoy the picture of the Nova (your avatar) taking off from the starting line. It is quite an unusual avatar for this G/Z bunch. I've always been curious if it was your car?

I used to race a '68 Camaro in NHRA's F/Gas class many years ago. Fun times... who would think two Chevy drag racers would wind up on a 350Z forum.

I did drag race a 69 Z/28 that did pull its wheels up.
