Hi all,

I need to trade in the coupe for somethine a bit more practical. I love the coupe in every way ... but it just won't do me any good for my frequent trips from Halifax Nova Scotia to Charlottetown PEI (ie. the maritimes of canada!). I need something that'll carry 3 people and luggage comfortably but still have great performance!

I've narrowed it down to:
05 FX45.
They've offered 926/month for 39 months@3.9% w/ 24000kms. 30K cash back and 1150 down. That's a trade value of 31500 and selling price of 65500.

OR
05 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with the 5.7L Hemi
703/mo for 36 months @0.8% w/ 20000kms. 30K cash back, 6K down. Thats with a 36000 trade and 56K selling price.

I know I'm going to get a biased opinion .. but I'd like to get as much feedback as I can. Any other vehicles I should have considered? The SRX is too pricy when priced out, same with the M class. I don't want a X5 that'll be redesigned soon. The VW isn't up to par and the Lexus doesn't have the power I want.

FX45 Pros:
Great handling and power
Luxurious and has all the tech gadgets
Seats are very comfy front and rear

Jeep Pros:
Great HEMI engine
Uses 89 Octane gas
Great 4x4 for my winter trips
Softer plusher ride
Better price point

Thanks for your input!!

I would vote FX45 all the way. I don't even think you can compare the two.

Power, handling and luxury.

Plus, it's the closest thing you can get to your G35 in an SUV.

One last thing. FX45s turn heads. Jeeps do not.

I've ridden on both, and bias aside I really do think the FX was just a much nicer car overall. The interior on the Jeep has come a long way, but still has a long way to go

I love NS btw, used to camp in Keji almost every year (with a few stop overs in Halifax of course!)

why not get a G35x? It moves well, handles the snow, and easily fits 4 adults and luggage.

I'd take a look at the a Land Rover LR3. Good power, good size. Right price $53,000 fully loaded!

If I were you I'd look into the M35....It has all of the things you are looking for and the base price isn't too far from the coupe.

I know two previous owners of Grand Cherokee's. They could not wait to get rid of them because they have sooo many problems. A real POS. Maybe an Acura MDX.

Grand Cherokee has consistently recieved very poor ratings in Consumer Reports which is an unbiased, nonprofit source.

Love the FX. The Nissan Murano's are fairly similar to the FX, maybe consider that. I am sure there are lots of cars similar to what you are looking for. I would check out CR and see what they recommend. Keep your options open and many. Do some test driving and pick the one you like best.

FX 45 all the way. Luxury, power, and looks? Can't beat it. If you can afford it, then go for it. If you dont really need a SUV you could look into an acura TL, or maybe even a G sedan? But for the SUV, the FX45 is the best choice IMHO.

FX all the way bro. I've got the 4.5 in my M and love it. Mucho power and torque, and the FX is built on the same platform as the G cars (FM platform).
Great luxo SUV... more money but worth every cent.
G/L and keep us in the loop.

Those are old Grand Cherokees and I hate the old ones. But three of my friends have the newer ones. 2 have 2001s and 1 has a 2005. The seats in the 01s are amazing and the 05 has crazy performance with that hemi. But I dont see how you could pass up an FX45. Go with the nav and the back up camera.

a left over 04 S4 would be nice, and probably cheaper than the fx 45.
