Air filter

I may be Ordering a z-tube for my G. I want to keep the stock set-up, but replace the filter with a less restrictive one. I do not want any filter that i have to oil or add oil. What choices do i have?.

Thanks,

Thanks,
why not? your choices are limited.. the adding oil is just part of the process of cleaning an oil filter vs throwing it away and buying a new one

I do not want an oil air filter due to the shear mess. My last car had an oil air filter and everything from the box. to the inside of the tube was coated with oil. I do not want to deal with it.

well the air filter isnt really much but a noise maker.. if your only changing filters theres next to NOTHING in terms of gain.. but i believe greddy and k&n makes filters that'll fit stock air box

Buy a new k&n every 15k miles. It's only $40. Then no need to worry about oil.

.......or you could just go with the OEM filter which seems to do a decent job.

I have the K & N but have not installed it yet as I am waiting for the break in to be complete. I've read that stock air filter filters air better.

Yeah, I am using a K&N air filter. I will probably replace it with a new one, as required when the filter gets dirty . . . Or I can clean it. The K&N filter is not that exspensive to toss if you consider the cost per miles driven. However, it is additional $$ over a regular stock paper filter.

FYI: Air filter "oil" has been known to coat and burn out MASS air sensors, and guess what - dealers DO NOT warranty that! Just a little something to think about to all those who cliam, an aftermarket air filter will not void your warranty... Oiled filters are good for "off road" use but for the street and on everyday cars, dry filters are your best option, specially if you have a MASS air sensor! K&N stands firmly behind the "M&M act" and out of the box K&N's are oiled slightly and have been siting for a while, so they realy do not "discharge" much oil, but when its time for a recharge, most people do not really know how to coat them and they over coat them, and then you get the MASS air sensor problems.... Something to think about when you're pricing out filters. . ..
