2005 deal I wanted opinion's

I found a dealer 20 miles from here who offered a silver coupe 5at, premium, sports suspension, Aero, Xm radio, splash guards, and trunk mat. He offered it for 36,500. I said I wanted it for 500 above invoice and wouldn't go any higher. He said he will try and get it for 500 above invoice. So I am looking at around 35,700. Is that a good deal or should I go for lower?

That is still high. Use the prices from Edmunds.com to get the numbers for invoice. People are getting fully loaded Coupes with Nav for around 35000 sometimes lower.

Thats like getting hit by lightining (not to often, and very hard to find). I mean seriously though, I see used 03's going for 32 at dealers...

edmunds.com says

MSRP INVOICE WHAT OTHERS PAY TMV?

So 35,700 is right at 500 above invoice is that not a good deal?

Well He offered me 36,500. I said get the car down to 500 above invoice, and I would buy it today. He said he will try and let me know.

I think its a good deal, they have one with navigation but its a sand interior, and I want BLACK. So Ill pass on the navigation and just get a small portable one for like 500 bucks, and save some money.

Hope you don't start a "navigation regret thread"....there have been quite a few...

well would you rather spend 2 grand on the stock navigation

or spend 300-600 bucks on a small little one that sits on the dash?

Then I can spend the money saved on anything else,

Subs, Rims, exhuast, headers, etc...

You should be able to get him for 500 above invoice still. If not find another dealer and just keep at it they will keep calling you and dropping the price if they want to sell you the car.

That was my thinking too, but when you see it in person...you soon develop a different mind set...PM me in 3-5 months about how you feel about it, and I guarantee you that your $500 on dash one won't please you as much, but just my opinion. You seem eager to buy and I was just tryin to help...not convince. Goodluck with the purchase man

Sounds like a pretty good price to me! BTW - I chose no nav and haven't had a chance to regret it yet. I don't travel enough where I don't know where I'm going. $2k to tell me how many miles I have left before I run out of gas is a bit steep imo.

i just reset my trip odometer every time after I fill up to get an idea of how many MPG I can get, and exactly how far I can go until the next fill up.. Of course our gas indicator on the dash works too

Price sounds pretty good to me. Are you getting Brilliant Silver or Diamond Graphite?

Heeb, I do too. I actually carry it a bit further and keep track on a spreadsheet of every fill up. In 5+ years with my S2000 I only missed 2 fill ups over 76k miles! I've been doing this since 8/98 when I had my 300ZX. Help me know if something is heading south with the car, if the oil change/new tires/30k service, etc. really did improve mileage. Also I can more easily make myself sick looking at the gas price graphs I have... Cost per mile thus far in the G35 - $0.13189, cost per mile in the 300ZX (1998-2000) $0.07738. Average miles per gallon? G35 - 18.608, 300ZX - 17.416. More than 1MPG more with the G yet almost twice the cost per mile...
